I saw it yesterday and thought it was good, but by no means great. In the wake of the SCREAM trilogy and HALLOWEEN H20, I'd been expecting an irritatingly "postmodern", "ironic" and "knowing" film stuffed with silly in-jokes ("The Krueger place? It's the last house on the left past the Bates Motel", characters with surnames like Cronenberg and Hooper, etc.). However, I was pleased to discover that it's pretty close to a good old-fashioned slasher movie with a fair amount of T&A and gore.
The acting is unexpectedly good (trust me, Monica Keener is going to be a huge star), and the script deals deftly with the high school caste system and teenage angst. The visual style is impressive (although director Ronny Yu seems overly fond of overhead shots, and shows signs of a Russ Meyer-esque obsession with big boobs), and the film is intelligent and entertaining, on the whole.
However, I found the ending a let-down (SPOILER

Actually, the rumors that I've heard said that New Line Cinema wants to pit Freddy and Jason against........ASH, as played by Bruce Campbell in the EVIL DEAD movies. If they can get rights to the character, and get Bruce to agree to it, I'd love to see it happen - F Vs. J was done rather well, so if they got the same cast (well, basically just Englund and the actor who played Jason) and crew, the second one could do possibly as well.
But anyway, i saw the movie. I never really followed either of the series, but I did see one of the NIGHTMARE flicks, but I really, really enjoyed the film. Robert Englund was a riot and added so much character to the movie. Also, that actual Fredd vs Jason scenes were very well choreographed and it was just overall very entertaining.

I've heard so many things:
-The afformentioned Freddy vs. Jason 2 or Jason vs. Freddy
-That Michael Myers is next to be pitted against another horror icon. Since he's DIMENSION i'm guessing it's Ghostface from SCREAM Lol!
I've also heard that H9 is in production and being a big fan of the Halloween movies, I'd rather have a mindless gorefest of Michael vs. somebody than another pointless sequel that disrespects the original and ignores parts 2-6.

I guess Loomis' spoiler is now redundant?

Let's have Alien Vs Predator now.

I keep forgetting about that one. As a big PREDATOR fan, I'm looking forward to that one very much.

Yeah, how did Michael's eyes grow back after being shot out in HALLOWEEN II?
