Just saw an article on DailyRecord:

BOND BABES WILL BARE BOOBS
007 secret's out

SUPERSPY James Bond is set to leave millions of fans shaken and stirred - with a glimpse of one of his beauties in the buff.

For the next 007 action romp will see a Bond girl bare her breasts for the first time in history.

Since 1962, when the master spy first starred in Dr No, beautiful women's breasts have been disguised in silhouette, coyly draped in blankets, painted gold or filmed at tantalising angles, but never full frontal.

Creator Ian Fleming would never have written it - and original Bond star Sean Connery would have averted his gentlemanly gaze.

But moviemakers EON Productions are moving with the times, and that means spicing up the storyline.

A source said: "The script for the new movie includes a topless scene for the first time.

"In the past, countless love scenes have had to be reshot because a nipple has popped out here or there. This time it's deliberate, but still tasteful in the best Bond tradition."

The 20th spy thriller starts production early next year at the famous Pinewood Studios.

Potential Bond girl candidates to star opposite Pierce Brosnan include singer Samantha Mumba and Riverdance star Jean Butler. But is is not known if they will be required to get their kit off.

Action-packed Bond movies have always had squeaky clean storylines.

But even the British Board of Film Classification says the sight of a breast won't see the Bond movies lose their 12 rating.

A spokeswoman said: "Nudity is allowed, but in a sexual context it must be brief and discreet."

Regards from Trier/Germany,
Tim

Anti-Spectre (28 Oct, 2001 04:58 a.m.):
I seriously don't believe this is true, and I reallly hope it isn't. That isn't what the Bond series is about. It has always been "imply everything, show nothing".

That wasn't the case back in the early sixties. The glimpses of Tatiana nude (especially the filming by SPECTRE of Bond and Tania making love), Pat Fearing in the sauna, and even the nude silhouettes in the titles were considered VERY steamy indeed. The Bond films pushed the envelope in their day concerning what could be shown on the screen. Now they're left well and truly behind. I'd like to see them regain a little ground.

This may be our man Pierce's doing. After The World Is Not Enough, I remember Mr. Brosnan saying he thought it silly that with all the violence in the series that they could not show a nipple during a sex scene. I, at the time, suspected that there had been a scene that Pierce liked that was vetoed by Mickey G. and Babs because one of Electra's 'stigmas' was showing.

It may also be that this article is to judge the reactions of the fans, much the same way that they floated the name Pussy Galore before they used it.

(off topic side note: as I type I have a hockey game on my television and they are playing the Bond theme in the arena)

Did Connery "avert his gentlemanly gaze" when he sat back to watch Fiona Volpe emerge from her tub after handing her her shoes to put on?

We could reduce the author of the article to tears!

Hey Mickey and Babs! Great idea! Just as women are becoming stronger and more intelligent in the series let's strip them naked and show them as being what the gender really is... titilation for men!

I have no problem with sexing the Bond series up. Personally the scene where Elekra runs the ice cube down her body infront of Renard screamed out for a bit of nudity. It just didn't ring true for me. It needed it.

But if we are reducing the series into boobs and (as my granny likes to call it) front bottoms then it is only going to alienate the female audience and make the boyfriends of this female audience feel awkward in the process.

Don't do it just for the sake of getting an actress nude... unless it's Kate Beckinsale!

Yeah, in LALD I'm sure fleming described a womans nipple as 'a stigma of desire'.

I think what zencat meant to say is...

...And isn't Honeychile completely nude when she emerges from the surf in Doctor No...

And then the answer is yes. (except for the belt and knife.)

...BUT if this is true, I say hallelujah. It's about time the Bond movies got a little sexier.

And it would generate tons of free publiscity...kind of like the Halle Berry topless scene in SWORDFISH. When I saw that movie, I swear, half the audience was there just to see Ms. Berry's lovely assests.

I'm sorry did I read a different Ian Fleming? Because the Fleming I read frequently had nudity.

Are they kidding!? I think we need to send this paper a copy of FRWL.

As for this article...hey, I'd like to see a topless Bond girl, but I think this article is pure tabloid invention. Fun though.

And didn't we see an awful lot of General Pushkin's girl's front side in The Living Daylights. I certainly would not call this a first.

Errrr.....I don't wish to sound prudish (and I can't believe I'm going to say this :)), but why does an announcement have to be made that a Bond Girl will go nude?

What major plot point (or should I say points :)) deserves this?

It's never been necessary in the past. Less was better than more. Major Amosova taking a shower was good enough for me. And it made for a bit of comedy. Full frontal wasn't required or necessary.

Having said that though, If Elisabeth Hurley were to flash her white pointers, I certainly wouldn't mind.

There! I'm a letch, not a prude.;)

Sorry Zencat after rereading your post I realized that you were talking about the literary JB, not the film JB. It can get pretty confusing sometimes on the forums when we talk about both the novels and the movies!!!!

I've got mixed feelings about this. It would put Bond back on the "push the envelope of sex tolerance but make it tame enough to make bubble gum cards for kiddos", but it'd also take away the "innuendo and nothing more" aspect that the series has become known for.

Also, in Diamonds are Forever, when Connery rips "Marie's" bikini top off and uses it to choke her, when the widescreen DVD is going in slow motion you can clearly see her breast hop out before she covers it.

Couple of points :)

1. the Daily Record(of Scotland) is not the type of paper to make up stories... they ridicule 'downmarket English rags' as they'd call them for doing such things on almost a daily basis!

2. the Elektra scene with Bond on the bed in TWINE had a nipple in it. although strategically placed hair was used in vain to hide it. but it failed...

I seriously don't believe this is true, and I reallly hope it isn't. That isn't what the Bond series is about. It has always been "imply everything, show nothing". This is the 40th anniversary and they aren't gonna change something like that. The Bond series is way above Swordfish, and frankly I would rather have the movie bring in less money than have guys go to it to see one scene. The Bond films are great for all they offer, and they don't need to update some areas with the times. For example, even though profanity is much more accepted now, it wouldn't feel right in Bond 20 if it passed up what has already been done in the past films. The whole series is very classy and I don't think the producers are going to change this for Bond 20.
