Best Moore Villains

I think the award goes to none other than Fransico Scaramanga aka the Man with the Golden Gun. I suppose he's also probably among my favorite villains in the hole series.
Best Moore henchman- Jaws (in The Spy Who Loved Me)

The Moore henchmen generally stole all the glory, Jaws, Gobinda, Mayday, Baron Samedi (does he count?). The lead villains were by and large forgetable IMO.
Villains:
1) Zorin
2) Stromberg
3) Kamal Khan
Henchpeople:
1) MayDay
2) Baron Samedi
3) Jaws

But, without going to far off-topic the villain who I remember most is Scaramanga, his film seemed to be a big build up to a huge final battle (which was abit of a let down), that said though, he's probably my favorite Moore villain. He was one of a few bad guys who was able to get under Bonds skin and genuinly make Bond fearful of his enemy.
That said Max Zorin was abit of a dangerous freak, but he did'nt seem to be much of a physical danger to Bond, he looked more like a school boy.

My ranking of Moore-villains:
1. Hugo Drax
2. Stromberg
3. Kananga
4. Kamal Kahn
5. Scaramanga
6. Max Zorin
7. Kristatos
I think Max Zorin was the last true Bond Villain! Every attempt to recreate the classic Bondvillain, after AVTAK, has failed, in my opinion.

Stromberg - Blofeld 'rip-off'
I heard that Stromberg was originally supposed to BE Blofeld (or at least part of SPECTRE), but was changed due to the controversy over who had rights to the character. Does anyone know any more about this?
It's a shame, because I always liked Blofeld and SPECTRE and would love to see them back in the Bond franchise.

I would also like to put in a good word for Krisatos.....not the most exciting, true, and he wasn't flamboyant...but it is the ones who are perfectly calm, and look like the very best of the good guys that make the very worst villians!

Friedrich Baxter (15 Apr, 2002 11:57 p.m.):
The same counts for Koskov. Orlov is, just like Koskov, the true mastermind. But in fact they are not considered as the true villains
I obviously think Koskov is a true villain! ;D
However Whittaker was very good too; Joe Don Baker was much better at playing a slightly-stupid bad guy, than playing a completely-stupid good guy.

1)Kananga/Mr.Big
2)Francisco Scaramanga
3)Hugo Drax
The best henchman will always be the Voodoo master Baron Samedi. He did not have any real significance in LALD but I always played as him in the N64 game Goldeneye.

Yes originally the screenplay called for SPECTRE to be taken over by a bunch of 'radicals'--at least that's what Archie Bunker would call them ^_^ (if I am correct in my thinking: I've never been able to straighten out the original plot) and Blofeld was kicked out.
Then the famous McClory vs The Whole Friggin' word--except Sony case was on and some judge (who must have been on Sony's payroll because I can't imagine anyone sane going against Ian Fleming's creation) ruled in favour of McClory.
So Eon no loger had the rights to the idea of SPECTRE in 1977 and thus the Blofeld idea was gone.
In my opinion, this was actually good, because it'd be sort of an insult to Bond to have him unable to kill Bolfeld through four films, and then some bleedin'-heart hippies kick him out and take over SPECTRE! ^_^

During a certain end of the film, the Bond girl and James Bond himself are making love together. The Bond girl is saying: "Ooh Jamessssssssssss!" just like in Octopussy. But then, the camera is zooming in on diffrent parts in the luxurous room. Then.......the camera zooms in on a certain ring...........the SPECTRE ring of the Bond girl. At the background (the camera still zooms in on the SPECTRE ring) we hear a very nasty saying of the Bond girl; "James, you are STUCK with me. I will NEVER let you gooooooooo!!!!!!" (no actual shots of this couple) And then........'The end' with at the background a very loud and powerfull Bond theme. And the credits are running. THAT would be MY ultimate ending.
What do you think about THAT!!!!
But nevertheless, I still don't know, ik MGM has got the rights back for SPECTRE. From my point of view, SONY/McGlory cannot make any new Bond movies again. I thougt they also were forbidden to make 'new' remakes of Thunderball. So.......why not bothering, and 'give'the rights to MGM/UA & Eon?

The Spy Who Loved Me would actually probably among my favorite Bond flicks if it had SPECTRE and Blofeld instead of the boring, one dimensional Stromberg. When Bond kills the villain at the end, that would have been an appropiate way to off Blofeld.

Ah yes, Gobinda! Another good one. His best (and one of his only) line is: 'Out there?' After Khan says: 'Go out there, and get him!' It's hilarious!

Hast to be Jaws for the henchman ... most of the Moore-era henchman are so forgettable!

but top 3:
Zorin
Drax
Scaramanga
the weakest by a county mile:
Kristatos...which is one of the many reasons why FYEO is an overrated bond flick

1 - Scaramanga
Best of the Moore villians, a threat to Bond, perhaps as good as he is, plus has that the ultimate weapon, a gun made from a cirgratte ligher, case and pen, which is apparently a good thing.
2 - Mr Big / Kanagana
Very much underrated I think. "Take that honkey out and waste him", plus he had some cool henchemen which shouldn't really matter but I'm counting it.
3 - Kamal Khan
I thought he was portrayed rather well for some reason. I like watching him trying to explain himself to Octopussy. He had his moments.
4 - Zorin
Yeah, the phycopath think was good. I wouldn't say he was a Goldfinger rip off, his scheme maybe, but not his character.
5 - Drax
Only makes 5th because of the good lines he gets, "Some harm come to him, "Eternal winter" and the other one I can't remember, hardly a 3 dimentional villian though
6 - Stromberg
Poor mans Blofeld, we see it from the very start. Lacks the sinisterness and menace of the villian he's shamelessly trying to rip off.
7 - Kristatos
No explanation required.

Why is Kamal Khan mentioned when in fact
GENERAL ORLOV is way more interesting, menacing, power hungry and mentally deranged....
I rank ORLOV well ahead of Kamal
Think about it: He was going to take over Western Europe

Ok, a blatant rip off of the Moore's/Connery's Best Girl topics but anyway:

Best Moore henchman- Jaws (in The Spy Who Loved Me)
I'm gonna have to agree in both cases. None of Moore's villains really stick out as being 'unique' or 'superior'.
Kananga/Mr. Big - No real threat
Stromberg - Blofeld 'rip-off'
Zorin - Goldfinger 'rip-off'
and the others are easily forgettable. Although Drax had some great lines.

And best supporting villain in the Hench catagory goes to Nick-Nack making it a The Man with the Golden Gun sweep.

2) Carl Stromberg; He is totally different compared with Max Zorin. He is far more sophisticated, and he has got overwhelming ideals. He is the Blofeld of the Roger Moore era. He cannot fight himself, but he uses nasty methods to kill someone. I REALY LIKE THAT
3) Hugo Drax; He is also a Blofeld-like villain. Very villainous, but sophisticated just like Stromberg.
4) Prince Kamal Kahn; He is a good example of a very original villain. I like his way of living. But nevertheless, he is not someone with the true ideals, like every other villain. General Orlov is the one with the ideals.
5) Ari Kristatos; He is the male variant of Electra Yania King, and a very good one. First you think Columbo is the villain, but none of that is true. But I didn't liked him a lot as villain. He is too 'nice'.
6) Fransisco Scaramanga; I don't know how to think of Scaramanga, but a true villain for the world? No, CERTAINLY NOT. He is more a sophisticated murderer. It's a waste that MI6 is investigating this man.
7) Prime Minister Kananga; Is he villainous? No, not at all. Although he is very sophisticated, I don't like him as a villain. Another waste of money for MI6 to put 007 on the job to stop him
Mr. Big; Well, I like him ;-). I cannot count him as one of the villains, but he IS the only villain who is not sophisticated at all! It's very original for one time.

I always thought of Orlov as the true villain of Octopussy, he was the mastermind. I think peolple just consider Kamal the villain of the movie becuase we see him a lot more than Orlov.

...not sure if anyone has said this, but I think (most occaisions whenever I ask someone) whenever you mention Roger Moore as James Bond to anyone, they always come up with Scaramanga, Nick Nack or Jaws - they're the most memorable - mainly down to, I guess their names.
