...holy cow is this a frightening book! Fascinating though.

Here's a Bond connection. OHMSS was released on Dec. 18, 1969, right smack in the middle of the massive Manson press frenzy (he was caught by now but had not yet gone to trial). Not sure how this is relevant, but I feel a bit bad about putting up so many non-Bond threads lately. :)

Oh course, George did show up the premiere sporting long hair and beard and looking rather Manson-like. I had always heard Cubby was upset by this...could the intense fear that Manson generated in the general public towards anyone who looked like a hippie during this time have had anything to do with this?

Blue Eyes... Might want to add this to your true crime studies. The Manson murders seem to be to the '60s what the Ripper was to the 1880s and the Black Dahlia to the '40s.

I've only read a little bit on the Manson murders, particularily surrounding Tate.

The connections between crimes (some just posed by the media) also really interests me. We recently had a 'Queensland Ripper' out here, who was setting fire, beating (and so forth) prostitutes.
