What company would you prefer to take the helm of the flailing Bond game series?

BUNGIE: HALO, Myth Series...
EA: Nightfire, Everything or Nothing, Medal Of Honor Series, The Sims...
UBI-SOFT: Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon Series, Rainbow Six Series...
ROCKSTAR: The Italian Job, Grand Theft Auto series, Max Payne...
RARE: Donkey Kong, GoldenEye, Perfect Dark...

---

I would love to see Ubisoft get the rights. Their games are *droool* amazing! Take Splinter Cell, fantastic gameplay and options, not to mention the jaw-dropping graphics (Which are done by HAND with little help from any engines such as the Quake engine).

Thoughts?

Err..., Splinter Cell has an engine just like Quake - a version of the Unreal engine, in fact.

Why not Rare? They deserve to reclaim the throne. "GoldenEye" simply has not been surpassed in gameplay, detail or quality. That was one hell of a game.

But it's very unlikely they will be able to "afford" the license, in the face of a commercial powerhouse in the form of EA. Someone needs to tell MGM and Michael and Barbara that the best Bond game was the first.

It's been a while since I've seen the 'behind the scenes' features, but I'm sure I remember the director dude saying how they wanted everything to be smooth and detailed, so they decided not to depend soley on the unreal engine, and they did it mostly by hand.
As you remember i said "Which are done by HAND with little help from any engines such as the Quake engine"

I picked EA because they are the best. I didn't pick Rare because they don't make games for Nintendo anymore.

At least if Rockstar takes over, you can kill civilians!

James Bond 007 has a licence to kill people within reason, he doesn't kill civilians because thats not his job and it's just plain mean.

I voted for Rare. I'd just like to see them take another swing at it. I think it would be another home run.

But it's funny to kill old ladies in Vice.

RE Splinter Cell : the guy was probably talking about the animation being done by hand rather than motion-captured. This has nothing to do with the engine, it's an artistic choice.

I went with Ubisoft. Rare would have been great a few years ago, but alot of the GE team has left Rare and alot of their games tend to be overly "innovative" and quirky, not to mention that they've only done one other game like GE and it wasn't quite as good. I REALLY wish we'd seen them do TND for N64.

Still, anything that isn't EA would be great. I'm sick of EA.

Not true. They've got a contract with Microsoft now and they've got a few games in development for Xbox (one of which is rumored to be Perfect Dark 2). And I think they did release one game for GameCube before leaving Nintendo.

GoldenEye 007 by Rare is still the one to beat as far as I'm concerned. Shame they didn't do TND. Bond belongs in 1st person IMO and even though I think EA taking Bond back to a 3rd person perspective will be gaming suicide, I'm still quite keen to see how the finished game will turn out. It is Bond after all.
