If no one minds, I'm going to start doing movie reviews for every film I see; which is about three a month. This is a practice for me because I'm starting them in my school newspaper in the fall. Hope you enjoy!
THE ITALIAN JOB (No Spoilers)
The Paramount Pictures remake to the 1969 version (starring Michael Caine) stars Mark Wahlberg as head of criminal group that plan tedious heists for great treasures. The movie starts with a heist in which the group successfully steals $35 million in gold located in Venice. This opening starts with a big bang that sets up the film. The gold, unfortunatly, ends up in the wrong hands to a inside man in which they must get it back at all costs.
The Job is a pulse-pounding movie with light humor, a great cast, fine performances, dazzling and well-executed action, and an awesome climax in the middle of Hollywood, California (with the use of the stylish Mini-Coopers). It will leave you wanting more.
Rating: 3/4 stars
The Italian Job is rated PG-13 violence and some language. It is about 1 hour and 51 minutes. Cast: Mark Wahlberg, Charlize Theron, Edward Norton, etc. Written by Donna and Wayne Powers and also Neal Purvis and Robert Wade (yeah!). Lastly, it is directed by F. Gary Grey

An interesting job: The Italian Job

Does this bear absolutely any resemblance to the original apart from the title, name Charlie Croker and the three minis?
Please say they use the 'Self Preservation Society' theme!

I don't want to really give away any details except that the original does have the heist of gold and some of the climax has similarities (from what I know). Oh, and also the Mini-Coopers.
I haven't actually seen the original. Maybe I'll take a look.

To quote Total Film's preview of 2003 movies, re: The Italian Job...
"Mark Wahlberg... Charlie Croker... does... not... compute..."

The movie got a large amount of positive reviews and only a few negative reviews. Like in my review Icarus-UK, I think it is a fairly entertaining movie but that's my opinion.
