I was wondering if you could allow us to use custom avatars where we choose an icon on our computer or on another website that is icon sized and use that to make the forums more personal

It seems we're basically the only site in the world that worries about legal stuff due to MGM's dicked up attitude.

ok, i just thought it would make all the avatars look more unique but i understand that you cant because of legal issues

I was thinking this when I looked the other day. I noticed that you had to have over 5000 posts to have a custom avatar and at this stage there's only one person.
I agree with the motives though.

Thats true but I'm glad I brought this query to the attention of other users. MGM cannot sue me for my own pic.

We had to put a system in place for custom signature graphics after MGM asked us remove all MGM copyright material from the site. This system has made a lot of extra work and takes alot of time for the staff members.
At this point, we are not going to allow custom avatars because quite frankly we think the time it would take staff members to deal with another system is time that could be spent better working on other portions of this website. Yes, your avatar maybe a picture of yourself or your pet hamster, but if we allow custom avatars we’d have to allow them for everyone. This means that if someone wants a custom avatar with a picture of Pierce the staff would have to use its time tracking down the photo to make sure it is not a copyright picture. Eventually, we may add a system for avatars, but for now if you would like a personalised graphic please do it with the system we have in place for graphic signatures.
