This has probably been covered in detail in many previous threads but I searched and couldn't find anything...

I'm reading Fleming's novels and after that will read 'Colonel Sun', Wood's novelizations and the Gardner/Benson novelizations (I'm not going to bother reading their other works). I know that all the novelizations try to stick to the continuity of Fleming's work but do they stick to the same time period like 50's/60's or just set it in the present. Anyway, it would be hard to have a story like GE, TND or DAD in 50's/60's due to their use of technology.

No, the novels are, for the most part, set within a few years of their publication dates. It's one of Glidrose's (or whatever they call themselves these days) stipulations that the continuation authors keep Bond current, and that he doesn't age past his mid-40's. There are a great many of us here that feel the literary Bond should be returned to his rightful time period, but who are we to argue with Glidrose?
