My favorite James Bond movie had one of my least favorite promotional campaigns. I guess I am just not a big fan of the UK Quad.

The red colours at the top of the picture are mind-numbing.

They must have been able to use better shots of XXX. NO?

Maybe - somewhere....

This is my most favourite Bond poster series.

When I saw this for the first time up close in a cinema foyer I thought there was a skeleton in Anya's lap.

TSWLM posters suffered from a poor printing process which resulted in a rather red image and blurry faces. Robert Peak rectified this with a revised piece of art that appeared on Italian posters making the image clearer and devoid of the wavy lines that make his work stand out from the rest.
Still, I think this artwork in either form is a superb piece that totally represents the film in an abstract sort of way. Far better that the photoshop montakes that we see nowadays.

Here is a rare poster used to publicise the UK reissue of TSWLM (in a double bill with LALD.

I do prefer that poster to the UK Quad poster.

I agree with this. The Roger Moore posters are far superior to anything that is being put out today.

I actually have the full set (4 or 5 ?) of US teasers in storage. They're about 4 feet wide on thick card-like paper.

I could've killed my brother one day for accidentily folding one of them in half.

argh....yeah, I think you could have gotten off with a temporary insanity plea :)

I have an extansive set of Roger Moore 007 movie posters. Is there any chance you have some scanned images of those US teasers that you could share with the group Blofeld's Cat?

Wow, looking at these poster makes me actually want to go and see this movie. When does it start?

Wait a minute.

Compare these with the the US posters for DAD...disappointing, indeed.

When you have an actress as knock-down, drop dead gorgeous as Barbara Bach (circa late 1970s), then it makes sense to feature her stunning features extensively in the promotional campaign. This simple but effective poster is well -- hmmm...me like :)

I agree Chandler....The Roger Moore era featured some truly great posters.

The US campaign for DAD was geared heavily to pointing out the involvment of the Hollywood A-list actress Halle Berry whereas the Moore era posters (with the possible exception of Grace Jones in AVTAK) concentrate on the action and set pieces.

They put together quite a nice advertising/promotional campaign for TSWLM, I think those in MGM marketing could learn a few lessons by taking a look at how Bond movies were marketed during the Roger Moore era.

I wouldn't say my collection is extensive, but they have been in storage since 1996, the year I came to Indonesia.

Unfortunately, I don't have any scans of my collection (were there scanners back then? :) ), and I have not looked at them during all the times I've been back on holidays. I don't want to touch them until I bring them back out of storage for good. They're specially packaged so as not to get damaged in anyway.
