It's as if "Licence Renewed for Special Services" is one novel.

This could be. They certainly seem to do that with the large print editions. That large print DAD came and went in an eyeblink, and it was "out of stock" the day of publication.Originally posted by Blofeld's Cat
John, could it be a case of the publishers waiting on the pre-order volumn to help determine whether to put it out at all? I would have thought an image of the cover would be up by now.
I don't know what the story is with pics on Amazon. You know they've yet to post pics of the 3 most recent Fleming reprints? Strange.
Speaking of Amazon, my DAD dvd hasn't shipped yet. If it wasn't for the 35% discount, I would just go out and get it tomorrow. In the old days Amazon would ship early so you'd get it ON the street date. Sometimes you'd get it a day early. Maybe the studio put a stop to that.

On the flip side they are quick to correct any mistakes they have made. One day I came home to find they had shipped an incorrect item. I wrote them an email at about 7 p.m. EST (12 midnight UK time) and I had a reply within 30 minutes.

I'm in London and have just popped in to a couple of bookshops to look for it, but no joy. No "Man With the Red Tattoo" paperback, either. Didn't think to ask sales staff, but I'll have time to check out Waterstone's in Piccadilly later this week. If the new Gardner reprints aren't there, they won't be anywhere.

There's a great Mystery Bookshop in London on Charing Cross (?) near Leicester Sq., I forget what it's called, but I would go there.

Yes, Murder One. I actually went there quite recently in the hope of finding secondhand copies of the out-of-print continuation novels, but no luck (apart from a hardback "Licence Renewed" in appalling condition, which I didn't think was even worth the

When I get a reply, I'll post it here. Amazon are usually pretty quick with replies, so we might have an answer within a day or two.

Finally, my local Waterstones said that they "could order it, but it's not one we carry on the shelf"! So they ordered it, I was told i'd be in stock in 2 weeks!!! 3 weeks later still no sign... I'd bet publication has been put back yet again!
Will we ever see this book? Doesn't bode well for the rest of the novels in his series does it?

The publication date of the Gardner combo has been pushed back until January 5, 2004.
I found this out today when I called to put a chase on my order. After 2 minutes on hold, whilst the bookstore called the stockists, I was told the above information.
Kinda puts a dampener on things. Although I already have these novels, I was looking forward to the new format, and the series in general!
We'll see what happens after christmas then!

But thanks for doing the leg work on this, Dalton. Nice job.
Maybe you should forward this to CBN news? [email protected]
