Well, not really. But he nearly was.
During the making of the scene in Thunderball, where Largo traps Bond in with his sharks, one of the sharks somehow got past the sheet of glass that was stopping them getting at Connery. Connery was unharmed.
I just thought I'd let you know that.
"I don't know whose fault it was, but it didn't happen again." Sean Connery.

Yes, that was a funny tidbit. If I remember correctly, they ran out of glass so they had to leave a small area open and when the shark was released, it immediately headed right through that spot! Naturally, they hadn't told Connery about that one minor detail. So it seems that look of fear on Connery's face during that scene wasn't really acting!

It's on the documentary on the TND DVD, I believe. Connery was good natured about it years later, but you're right, it's still funny to watch that scene, going, "Whoops, there it is!"

I kind of like what Connery said on the TB DVD documentary. It was something like "I can tell you it didn't happen again," somewhat annoyed it happened in the first place. Pure Connery attitude.
