Is it just me, or is anyone else a bit bored with the Bond's starting off, or the investigatoin starting, with a death of a double-0 - or agent?

If the Bond20 leak is roughly what we are going to see, this is true again - with 008 Richard McCallister copping it. 007 may be invincible, but I'm not so sure about the rest of them.

Here's the films that I can think of that have this as part of the plot:
DN - got dealt a bad hand
LALD - whose funeral?
TMWTGG - "ah yes, poor Bill"
OP - knifed by a clown for an egg (!)
AVTAK - had his chips in siberia
TLD - "hey, you're dead"
GE - "for England James"
TWINE - "terrible tragedy"

Interesting that Rog had most of those...

instead of another 00 death, what is needed is a 007 film that focuses on the 00 Section itself...let's get to know another 00 for a change. That's why a female 008 is a very popular idea with the fans.

I agree, 0012 sounds almost Austin Powersish. They have nine 00 Agents in Thunderball, which I assumed was 001 though to 009, that made more sense.

It's an interesting connection that we've seen quite a few of the 00 Agents. Much like in Thunderball were we find out there were 9 00 agents stationed in Europe at the time. I wonder how many there are in total?

Also at the start of TWINE of course we find there's a 0012, Bond holds up his photo. I wonder who is really in that photo?

I think they should keep the double Oh's from OO1 to OO9. I mean OO12 is kinda stupid, i think Three numbers are enough...does that make any sense?

Just a hunch, but I wondered if it might be Pierce's stepson.

Yeah, its 5 times in the last 7 films that an Agent has died, its wearing thin.

Its like, "Oh, that agent couldn't do the job, we better get 007".

That's a very interesting idea! It's hand we see in GoldenEye open up the wine chiller in the Aston Martin cause Pierce's hand was out of action for some reason which escapes me now!

Perhaps M wants him dead, after all.

How does Bond handle it, with Agents dropping dead all around ? Its probably best not to get attached to anyone in the 00 section, when it appears the average life span of an Agent is about 10 minutes.

I guess its easier for the story, than an agent has already been on the case.
