There have been many threads and posts generated in the forums of late regarding the possibility of remaking (reinventing ?) Casino Royale for Bond 21, 22, etc.

So, I thought I

And what about Valerie Mathis and Vesper Lynd ?

Valerie: Emily Procter (Calleigh in CSI:Miami) she can look stunning and has an accent to die for. Plus she looks like she can handle a gun and can handle some 'tech jargon' as Valerie was supposed to be a version of Rene Mathis of the Deuxieme Bureau.

Vesper: an Asian/African American actress. I'd actually prefer to see an Indian woman (possibly even Daljit Dhaliwal, the Indian newsreader from the UK) playing the part because I don't recall us ever having an Indian bond girl ...

And for a themetune ? Just a normal lovesong and not something that's going to have the title in it (like the songs from Titanic and Pearl Harbor). Perhaps someone like Norah Jones or Alicia Keys singing it tho'.

Sure, go for it.

As I can't get my hands on the DVD and have not seen it in aaaaages, I can't honestly remember too much about Linda Christian's role. Hence the reason why I left her out.

But if you want to change her character into Vespa or Rene (or both if you want to go avant garde  ), go right ahead.

interesting idea-

setting-Las Vegas
style-hard boiled spy, very dark
rogue CIA agent Jimmy Bond-I'll go different here, Don Cheadle
Clarence Leiter-Clive Owen, a disgraced British agent, who may or may not be in on it with the villain
Le Chiffre- the man behind it all, like a puppet master, I'm going to go weird here and suggest Kenneth Tsang, General Moon, Le Chiffre is a cover, no one knows the real name
Vesper Lynd-Kelly Hu, his daughter who becomes entwined with both Leiter and Bond

the story-two disgraced and rogue agents, one british, one american both try to take down Le Chiffre, who's in Vegas trying to recoup major losses before his bosses take his head, or something like that..

Setting- Atlantic City, but if it doesn't have to be in America, Monaco
Genre/Style- spy drama
James "Jimmy" Bond- Hugh Jackman or Joaquin Phoenix
Clarence Leiter- Rowan Atkinson (so long as he doesn't play it like he did in NSNA)
Le Chiffre- Michael Clarke Duncan
Vesper Lynd- Monica Bellucci

I'd definitely cast Eminem as CIA agent Jimmy Bond. I'm serious. Obviously, I wouldn't have him rapping, and he'd have to lose the earrings and hide the tats, but I think he'd be great as a tough, mean, good-looking but slightly wet-behind-the-ears young spy. (I feel that Eminem will become the white Will Smith - starts off as a rapper, goes on to play a rapper, winds up carrying guns in Jerry Bruckheimer movies.)

Since the CIA doesn't operate in the United States (officially), I'd set the action in the Caribbean gambling mecca that is Aruba (well, you don't get too many Aruba-set movies, do you?), or maybe Macao.

Let's turn Le Chiffre into a Hong Kong Chinese whose gambling has left him heavily indebted to Triad gangsters as well as in bad odour with his employers, the People's Republic of China's equivalent to SMERSH. Kenneth Tsang, perhaps.

As Clarence Leiter, I'd choose Paul Bettany (the college pal who's possibly a figment of Russell Crowe's imagination in A BEAUTIFUL MIND). And who better than Catherine Zeta Jones for an exotic, perhaps Eurasian Vesper Lynd?

And why don't we also have Jet Li (if we settle on Macao) or Tom Sizemore as a Rene Mathis-type ally?

Ending: as Jimmy Bond is about to be tortured to death by Le Chiffre, the latter is killed by an angry Triad associate who has suddenly appeared on the scene. The Triad carves a Chinese ideogram into Bond's skin as some kind of punishment/warning. Bond recovers from his ordeal and proposes marriage to Vesper, who does not commit suicide but accepts the proposal. Believing that Bond's love for her will outweigh his sense of duty, she confesses her role as a double agent and suggests that she and Bond live as fugitives, surviving on her ill-gotten gains. Bond agrees and they go to bed. In the morning, Vesper wakes to find that Bond has handcuffed her to the bed and that he has blown the whistle on her.

Sorry to get off topic a little.

But DJE from JAG would be good. Hell he'd probably even be passable for Bond. He's Canadian so it doesn't totally rule him out. Certianlly got the physical presence for it.

Certainly not off topic because I have chosen DJE for my choice of an American Bond. :)

He's tall, dark, handsome, and he also give the impression of a clean-cut good boy on and off screen. Good for publicity.

Robbie Williams isn't American so he wouldn't make a good CR54 Bond remake. :)

And, Loomis. What an imagination! Have not seen 8 Mile yet, so I haven't seen for myself how well Eminem can act, although I've heard a lot of good reports.

If it has to be an American then I would cast Edward Burns or Jim Caviezel (Jesus Christ in Mel Gibsons coming "The Passion"). After "8 Mile" I thought about Eminem as a villain...

Jimmy Bond: Ben Affleck

Clarence Leiter: Colin Farrell

Vesper: Jennifer Garner

Valerie Tejadah: Rhona Mitra
Kissy Suzuki: Ming Na

Gideon Harmsway: Kevin Spacey

Horror: Adam Baldwin

Plot:

Gideon Harmsway is the villain. He's stolen information from a renegade Korean and is attempting to sell it to a Palestinian terrorist cell. He gets the money from the Palestinians in return for the information, but he then bets the money and looses it to Jimmy Bond of the NSA who is in Las Vegas to investigate a terrorist cell operating within the USA. This is the Palestinian group ...

However, Harmsway has attempted to doublecross the Palestinians and sell them useless information. When Valerie Tejadah turns up and asks Harmsway to either return the money or give them the real information, he is unable to do so. And when Tejadah tries to assasinate Harmsway, it is Bond who actually saves him and kills Tejadah.

In the assasination attempt, Tejadah kills Horror, Harmsways henchman.

Harmsway shows his appreciation of Bond by setting him up with his daughter, Vesper.

Vesper reveals that: Harmsway stole information from the Koreans and tried to sell it to the Palestinians. However, he gave the Palestinians the useless information and they in turn tried to kill him in revenge. She also reveals that her father has the true information and was going to sell it to various criminal groups worldwide via the internet:

Bond: Isn't the information superhighway a wonderful thing ?

Bond decides to investigate Harmsways office that night and bumps into Kissy Suzuki. Kissy is an employee of the Korean that Harmsway stole the information from and she has been given orders to retrieve the information and then eliminate Harmsway.

Bond and Kissy agree to team up. They're unable to find the information so they negotiate with Harmsway to buy it back ( Bond 'throws' a Poker game in order to pay off the Palestinians and to further win Harmsways trust ).

Bond goes with Harmsway and Vesper to return the information to Kissy. Kissy takes the case but decides to kill Harmsway anyway which Bond and Vesper can both understand, thought not necessarily endorse.

Vesper drives away from the meeting site in the limousine. But, the limo has been rigged with an explosive. It explodes and kills Vesper so Bond is forced to turn on Kissy.

In the ensuing chase and fight, Bond manages to recover the information and throw Kissy to her death from the top of a tall casino.

A few weeks later, Bond is relaxing with the aide of a Swedish masseuse.

JIMMY BOND WILL RETURN ...

Very nicely done, Just add a fight with Mr. Horror on the sloping sides of Luxor's pyramid, and of course the laser/light that projects from the Luxor's pinnacle is really a particle beam designed to shoot down American satellites as the pass over leaving the country vulnerable to ABM atttack and you've got a 2004 James Bond movie. Very nicely done indeed.
