Well that is it.
I believe now is the cheaper time to visit due to a lot of countries blacklisting it as a terrorist spot.

I went there during a SE Asia based trip between Hong Kong and Australia.
It's really quite beautiful, loads of tourists and nothing to denote it as anything to do with James Bond once you're there. The tourist trinkets are shells and the like.
I did however find a T-Shirt on a neighboring island that had a print of the island on the front saying James Bond Island - but that was it.
Other than that, you could walk around the whole place. The opening shot of Scaramanga and Anders was at the back. The entrance to the inards was there, ie the sloping rock. Obviously no door. Fascinating.

Well that's what I'm told. A lot of foreign departments are warning their citizens not to go there at the moment. I know a person who went to Bali recently, and not only was the place virtually empty things were cheaper and one was waited on hand and foot so to speak.

According to the doc on TMWTGG DVD it was a really remote backwater area when they went there to film the scenes and it was really difficult to get to. Its no surprise they call it James Bond island because if it wasn't for 007 it would probably still be unknown.

I said "Phuket, I'm going..." Phuket.
I guess it sounds different in America.

Just as well it's pronounced "Poo-ket."

Just about to add that myself. Thought I've heard everything from Fuket through the Fukete.

Didnt they say on the DVD that there were several bats flying around on this little island strip?
You know Christopher Lee is the latest Rings movies, I wonder why Roger doesn't sign up to play some evil wizard - can you imagine his menacing rising eyebrow?

I guess it just took another New Yorker to get my pronunciation.
