So according to sites from the interwebs, there's the rumour of the idea of a shared universe within the Bond franchise.

First off, to be frank, if this ever went into production those of us here who came up with ideas should all be paid for making it up first. ;)

If it were up to me I'd do it the following ways:

1. A SPECTRE superagent. Give us the one bad guy who's as tough and resourceful as Bond, but on the opposite side for once. Like a modern day Donovan Grant, but less of a lunatic.

2. Felix Leiter. It's well past due that Felix get his own movie, or set of movies. Clearly there's a big fanbase for more exploits for Felix and it could be done right.

3. (Possibly) Another OO. Maybe a female to silence the nagging of Julian Anderson. lol

4. An original idea of a Simon Templar/Golgo 13 type. An immoral character who would operate by his own rules, work for either MI6 or SPECTRE yet have a moral code.

Feel free to list your own ideas of a bondian shared universe. And if y chance some of our ideas do come to reality onscreen, get that royalty cheque!

How about a Moneypenny movie? It would be jumping the shark for sure, but after the huge success of WONDER WOMAN, female-led action films are all the rage.

It could work, but don't make it over the top. Maybe in vein of the acclaimed Monypenny Diaries? Or maybe something original in concept as the ultimate secret keeper.

Here's my proposal for the first year:

"Give Us a Kiss", a CGI family comedy in which Max the Parrot and Doubletake Pigeon team up to defeat Blofeld's cat.

"MI6 Origins", chronicling the founding of the secret service during World War II. Lots of desaturated hues and a CGI recreation of Bernard Lee.

"Kid Brother Reloaded", the triumphant return of special agent Neil Connery, who must take down the evil Che Liffre with the power of hypnosis. Cameos by Izabella Scorupco and a very drunk Ralph Fiennes.

"Muffy", a touching portrait of an aging Jack Wade and his struggle with dementia.

Exploring other Bond characters such as Felix and Moneypenny is fine for the comics, but for live action? I don't think so.

The source of this rumour was pointed out as also saying a few years ago that the next Spider-man would probably be black.  Then Tom Holland was cast.

Broccoli said she wasn't interested in doing a Bond universe on the Spectre press tour.

No kidding; we're having enough trouble keeping them interested in putting out Bond films.

This has to be nonsense as there's nothing to define a Bond film anymore unless Bond is in it. Otherwise, it's just Salt or Spooks: The Greater Good.

The point of a 'universe' is that it's actually distinct from our own.

The source of this rumor also is a believer in the "James Bond is just a code name" theory.

Ive always been puzzled by that - it makes ZERO sense, as that means Moneypenny, Felix Leiter and Blofeld would all be code names and the new Bond really gets into his made up backstory regarding his parents death and (pre Craig) the death of Tracy. Then dozens of unconnected people just happily play along with this.

How much of a moron is that guy?!?!? Watching Goldeneye and Skyfall (and many, many others) kills that moronic "theory" stone dead.

If anything, the most one might argue is that Bond is subject to some 'flexible reality' sphere, where certain events and characters are subject to the necessities of the story at hand, not so much explaining anomalies and inconsistencies as ignoring them. But the characters themselves are definitely meant to be the characters, not mere stand-ins for code names.

Code-name theory is pretty stupid really. Its like assuming Charlie Brown, Snoopy and Linus must all be code-names because the characters are the same age in that 2015 Peanuts movie as they were in 1966's  It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown.
