The age of smart phones has allowed the mobile gaming industry to grow lucrative. Many of the most popular games are original creations, but some franchises like Star Wars, The Simpsons and Sonic the Hedgehog have already looked to cash in.

Bond's forays into mobile gaming have been few and far between. Now that Activision have ended their involvement in Bond there have been no bond games made. Why not hire a small gaming company to create a Bond mobile game?

Hopefully not, Bond has been ruined enough with console gaming. They should hand the license to some good company (like Rare or the Timesplitters developers) and make a good console game.

I'd hope not as well.  The Bond gaming franchise has been abysmal, to say the least, and delving into the mobile gaming arena wouldn't help its reputation at all.  Whoever it is that authorizes the Bond license for gaming needs to sit on the license for a few more years, to let the memory of how bad the Bond games have been post-GE007 and then find a developer who is actually interested in making Bond one of their flagpole franchises, and try to relaunch the franchise with a focus on quality.

I present the official james bond mobile game. This will no doubt remain unnoticed and forgotten amongst the other Bond related things (SPECTRE, Trigger Mortis, the Warren Ellis comic book series, radio 4's Diamonds Are Forever...)

It looks truely uninspired (and a waste of a good license like Bond)- I do still want to play the game however (although it currently does not appear to be on the Google Play store.)

The game is on the App store, and it's a waste of time. Give it a go by all means, though.

That game looks embarrassingly bad judging by that video.

It's not that this game will remain unnoticed because of SPECTRE and Trigger Mortis coming out this year. GoldenEye 64 came out the same year Tomorrow Never Dies did, yet it was a best-seller. The reason this will remain unnoticed and forgotten is that this game - as I predicted - is crap. Even 007 Legends is a milestone compared to this s**t.

So did this have quietly (and possibly wisely) get dumped? Haven't heard anything about it in a while.

Christ almightly this looks horrible. Don't mind the music but still... What the hell is this supposed to be!?

EDIT: Oh, realised the pointless character recasting. What have they done to Quarrel!?

There is a style of game which would be a perfect fit for the Bond franchise, and that's the GO series of games by Square Enix.

Essentially they are puzzle games, but the level of difficulty is not so high which is perfect for franchises that have a wide appeal.

So far they've made Hitman GO and Laura Croft Go. Both are of a very high standard and are great additions to each franchise.

I'd even say that Laura Croft GO is a better game about raiding tombs than the PC and console reboot from a couple of years ago.

They exemplify how to do stealth games games well, and how to do touch screen games well.

Also, they're simple art style is actually quite beautiful.

Although the game play is the same between Hitman and Laura Croft, there are enough differences between them - such as disguises in Hitman and torches in Laura Croft - that a different enjoyment can be had from both. For Bond it'd just be a matter of getting those different elements so that it too plays out in a new way. Some ideas could be melee takedowns that let Bond pass but the enemy wakes up and turns hostile and tracks Bond, explosives to knockdown walls or enemies, and a watch that disables security cameras. Even doing something like introducing a loadout system which limits what equipment Bond take would provide a way that the same level can be approached differently. Combine that with achievements for doing so, cosmetics such as suits to unlock for Bond to wear, and the option for DLC levels in the future (Hitman was very generous with several free levels), and there'd be many months of fun in the game.

Make it happen Square!

It has finally come to mobile and it failed miserably.

It is atrocious. The 1998 James Bond 007 Gameboy game is leagues better.
