Hi, folks...

Noticed on IMDB the following "plot synopsis."  It's been on there for awhile and I'm wondering if its legit.  Surely, IMDB would have taken it down ages ago if it wasn't true?  It sounds very interesting.  Hope it's for real.  So far, it jives with some details we already know:  (two Bond girls; one German/Scandinavian with a troubled past, and one from the UK who may be an agent?)

Bond is sent by M to investigate the assassination of a fellow agent in Northern Ireland, afraid that it might be an IRA action. In Belfast Bond teams up with a policewoman and discovers that the assassins are German impersonating irish terrorists, old foes of the British government. Tracking one of the assassins, Bond goes to Berlin where he is told to protect a German businesswoman who inherited a small statue of a black eagle similar to the Nazi symbol of WWII, because she is being pursued by neonazi terrorists who may be connected to the assassination in Belfast. Aided by a Mossad agent, Bond finds out that the statue conceals documents that could be use to create the IV Reich by the neonazis. Bond and the Mossad agent find out that the nazi terrorists are planning to steal a virus from a French laboratory and weaponize it to attack and weaken Europe so it cannot stop them from creating the IV Reich. The Mossad agent and a french scientist(Lior Ashkenazi and Jean Reno, perhaps) are the allies. The German businesswoman and the Irish policewoman would the the Bondgirls. German terrorists as the villains(Jürgen Prochnow ? Thomas Kretschman ? Til Schweiger ?)

Any truth to this? Really, really hope so....

Wow! A remake of the Maltese Falcon!

The synopsis is so detailed, I'll bet even Mike and Barb - and John Logan - don't know that much about it.

If it were legit, IMDB would have had it yanked within 5 minutes..

When I started seeing question marks and the word "perhaps" I knew it was not real.

100% fake.  An official synopsis of Bond 24, which we won't see until the beginning of production at the absolute earliest, wouldn't be nearly this long and detailed.  It would also be more polished than this synopsis, and wouldn't contain casting suggestions.

Agreed, I remember Skyfall's synopsis being very vague the entire time. All we knew was that someone from her past comes back to haunt her.

Looks interesting but it could possibly be fake IMBD isn't always believable. Sounds pretty odd to have Bond working with a lot of Nazi stuff. Still sounds like a nice plot either way I'm sure Mendes will do his best.

IMDB is like Wikipedia - since everybody can contribute it must be getting the best of the truth.

Always nice to think true, but at such an early stage in the 'Bond 24' production, I can't help think this is a fake plot.

However, sue for me enjoying the classic espionage-style plot. A good old adventure for Bond to get stuck in with nothing from his past or present causing trouble.

Same procedure as with every Bond movie. Utter bogus, for sure. Goes to show: IMDb is not and has never been a credible source.

Reminds me of someone dream casting The Rat Pack - while it was still in development - with Tom Hanks as Dean Martin and Jim Carrey as Jerry Lewis, among others.

I immediately recognized it as wishful thinking; what would Jerry Lewis be doing in a movie about the (post Martin & Lewis) Rat Pack days?

I wouldn't be surprised if we see neo-Nazis in a Bond film at some stage - you've only got to look at the political state of Europe at the moment to see its topicality. But this? Germans pretending to be IRA men? (The last time that happened in real life was during the Second World War, when the Nazis landed agents in the neutral Irish Free State. Their knowledge of Ireland was staggeringly inaccurate, and it didn't take the Irish authorities long to rumble them. From what I've read about the subject, interrogation wasn't necessary - one or two pints of Guinness soon did the trick!)

This IMDB "synopsis" is intriguing but I'll be very surprised if it's true. On the other hand, I wouldn't be at all surprised if little tit-bits of it start leaking to the red top tabloids in the UK - stuff like this is meat and drink to the show-biz columns, especially if the names of a few actors are thrown in, which this synopsis does (Surprise, surprise!)

If the synopsis is fake IMDB should remove it. I mean this is why their credibility is shot. I have to say I do like the summary, but if it's fake then it has no place in the BOND 24 IMDB page...

I hope it's real though.... Or close enough... And I agree that we need a Bond movie that is a true Bond movie: a standalone mission than doesn't play like a "special episode" the way SKYFALL did, however dazzlingly. Just a normal mission thus time, Sam and co. No pasts coming back to haunt anyone...

Oh and since we are discussing bogus items about BOND 24, what the hell is up with all this crap about Penelope Cruz being considered as a Bond girl? Hasn't it been reported that the Bond Girls are Scandinavian and British? There is no way on Earth Penelope Cruz could play either of those roles convincingly.

The descriptions of the Bond Girls in that fake IMDB synopsis actually jive more with the legit info we know than the prospect of Penelope Cruz playing either of them. I sincerely hope she isn't cast. It would be more stunt casting along the lines of Denise Richards, Halle Berry, and Lynn Holly Johnson. Oscar or no Oscar....

Perhaps Cruz will be a villain? Why else would an actress of her stature consent to appear in a Bond film?

Of course it's fake. Same thing happened with QoS. And our resident QoS basher Stamper claimed it was true even after he saw the film.

It wasn't a synopsis. it was a preview screening. A bit of shame when the bogus review turned out to be better than the actual film was. That's Quantum of Solace for you.

If I recall that was the post on the message boards on IMDB wherein someone claimed that they went to a preview wherein Camille dies at the end? Among other things that didn't turn out to be true about QOS?

Well with the exception of Camille being killed , I actually like that synopsis. Feels more fleshed out than the actual QOS we got.

Effing IMDB.... Geez...
At the same time there are do many parallels with the actual QOS that I have to wonder if the poster actually did see an early screening of QOS but was dissatisfied with it so he embellished it into a cross between THE BOURNE SUPREMACY and THE DARK KNIGHT. Either way , an elaborate case of cinematic wishful thinking....
