James Bond Producers Michael Wilson, Barbara Broccoli Honored By Producers Guild
The Producers Guild of America has selected Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli — producers of the James Bond franchise — as recipients of the 2014 David O. Selznick Achievement Award in Motion Pictures.
The award will be presented to Wilson and Broccoli at the 25th Annual Producers Guild Awards ceremony on Jan. 19 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
“Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli are the driving force behind one of the most cherished franchises in the history of film,” said PGA Awards Co-Chairs Lori McCreary and Michael De Luca.
Broccoli is the daughter of original James Bond producer Albert R. “Cubby” Broccoli and started working at Eon Prods. in 1977 at the age of 17 in publicity. Wilson, her half-brother, began working at Eon in 1972.
Eon saw “Skyfall,” the 23rd Bond pic, top $1 billion in worldwide grosses earlier this year.
The Selznick trophy recognizes a producer’s body of work in motion pictures. Previous recipients include Stanley Kramer, Saul Zaentz, Clint Eastwood, Billy Wilder, Brian Grazer, Jerry Bruckheimer, Roger Corman, Laura Ziskin, Kathleen Kennedy & Frank Marshall and Steven Spielberg. Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner were the most recent honorees.
