Man, those Matt Helm films were pretty poor, weren't they?
It's best to see the Helm films as movie versions of Dean Martin's musical-comedy-variety series of the time period doing a Bond spoof. The most impressive aspect of the Helm films was the all-star lineup of beautiful women of the time period to play his leading ladies: Ann-Margret, Cyd Charisse, Nancy Kwan, Elke Sommer, Tina Louise and my personal favorite, Stella Stevens. Her brilliant performance as the well-meaning but klutzy Gail Hendrix shows she was as good a comedienne as she was beautiful. There's a good Matt Helm thread in this section.
