Stolen Amedeo Modigliani painting in Skyfall

In case anyone was wondering, the painting in Skyfall is Amedeo Modigliani's Woman with a Fan, it was stolen from Museum of Modern Art in Paris in May of 2010.

According to Judith I Bridgland this was probably a tribute to Dr No since the 1962 Dr No featured Francisco Goya's Portrait of The Duke of Wellington. The painting was stolen in 1961 but returned in 1965.

Yes, I guess this is a reference to the stolen Goya in Dr. No.

I liked what they did with the paintings throughout the picture - the symbolism of the ship towed away, then restored seemed to symbolise the nature of the restoration of SIS at the resolution of the film.
