I saw Pierce filming A Long Way Down in London the other day, and decided it was time to make contact with James Bond for the first time in my life. This is the story of how that encounter went...

Very amusing. Not getting starstruck is difficult.

Hey, at least he was a trooper and did not flip you off.

Haha! Brilliant TIS!

You've got a great way with words, that had me chuckling. But well done for meeting James The Fifth! What a moment that must have been.

I'm yet to meet any of them, but I'll follow in your footsteps and have the courage to do so should the chance arise.

Ah, very nice. I enjoyed that and kind of know where you are coming from! The first time I met somebody famous, I literally couldn't speak to him much at all...

That was years ago though.

That was bloody hilarious.

Good on Brosnan for demonstrating such excruciating patience.

I met Mr Broz when he was filming Butterfly on a wheel in Vancouver (also got to see Gerard Butler and Maria Bello). Just happened to be there on holiday, and he was filming around the corner from our hotel, as you do. To be fair, much the same recollection, "should I, shouldn't I? Oh you'll never forgive yourself if you don't!". He was joking with the crew and I said "hello", he was very polite, shook my hand, posed for a photo and I moved on. Fair play to the man, he is definitely approachable. Amazingly he looked much younger in real life 5 years later than he did in DAD. Also bumped into director John Landis later that week. Again, had to be done! :)

Sorry if this is a little long. Back in March 1996, I was invited to go to the Blockbuster Entertainment Awards in Hollywood. This is of course four months after Pierce made his debut in GoldenEye.
He was there as a nominee for best action/adventure actor. And he won. After the awards were over, my group stayed inside the theatre(the magnificent Pantages Theatre)until they had to kick us out.
We waited outside at the front entrance while our limo could come for us. While we were waiting, one of my friends looked down the street and told me, "Look, there's James Bond."
And it was. It was Pierce, his girl friend at the time(now wife)Keely and another couple. My friend said "Lets go, its F*#king Bond." And we did. I walked up to him, stuck my hand out and said "Hi Pierce."
He turned and looked at me and I said, "I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy your films." And he said thank you very much and gave me an excellent mans handshake. He had his hair slicked
back(he was filming Mars Attacks at the time)and Keely was absolutely stunning. The great thing after that was a number of people noticed him with me and my friend and others came down and he was gracious to every single
one of them. He took pictures with fans and signed autographs. I wish I would have had my camera, but it was in the limo that hadn't gotten there yet. But, at least I got to shake James Bond's hand!

I met Roger Moore at a book signing, and George Lazenby at a fan event a week later. I was thinking if I kept that pace up I could meet all the bonds within 6 weeks!

I also met Robert Davi & Raymond Benson at the James Bond Symposium held at Hofstra University a couple years back. I was able to get Davi to sign my sideshow figures and Benson to sign my first editions. That symposium was great, I hope they do it again sometime

I've met Pierce a couple of times; a few years ago at a Springsteen show in LA (at the Pantages!) and last year at a DGA screening of 'The Ghost Writer': both times he was exceptionally pleasant. The first time was just before Craig was announced for CR and the whole idea of Broz returning was still up in the air but looking increasingly unlikely; I asked him about it and he made it very clear he wanted to do another movie.
Last year we discussed Springsteen a bit more.
He's very comfortable talking to fans and clearly appreciates the position he's in.

I must admit I probably would not have recognised Sam Neill myself either.

Big fan, I believe he's seen at least 20 shows going back to BITUSA
Did you get to any US shows this summer?

Not managed to the States this year, but hoping to perhaps get across for the second stretch next year. Also got to shows in Barcelona and London - never disappoints!

That was really funny. Reminds me of my own personal brushes with global superstardom via Bruce Springsteen (Merrion Square, Dublin) and Claudio Caniggia (Tesco Maryhill in Glasgow lol). So hard to know what to say but I did get handshakes and 5 mins' conversation from each (Caniggia in Spanish, of course; mainly about Maradona).

I passed by Gregory Peck in a hotel in Berlin.

And I got to ask Billy Wilder a question during a press conference.

I also shook hands with Rick Springfield.

But no Bond actor-contact yet...

I tried to do the Brosnan hair thing back around 2003. A few years too late sadly. I am not Pierce Brosnan.

(reading this over, I just realized this was a rather pointless post)
