What I always thought and would have not approved of is answered by Quentin below;

People go to see a Bond movie for Bond, not Tarantino and vise versa.
It almost seems like Tarantino is demanding to direct one while at the same time demanding full creative control over Bond and it appears he never even spoken to the producers.
The article also has interviews with Brosnan who says;
And I wonder how much of that was true and if it had anything to do with Brosnan not returning for a 5th 007 film."I really wanted Quentin Tarantino to direct the next one, and Quentin wanted to do it. I think that scared the producers."
