Bond film based on a Bond book, every time...although the books do make interesting reads with their added scenes/dialogue not in the film, like 'GoldenEye' and the tiny bit more detail in things that you can picture more in your minds eye.

Where does Bond excel more:

On water

OR

On snow

He does well on both, but his record is better with snow.

Who would make a better M:

Ralph Fiennes

or

Albert Finney ?

Ooh...I have to say, I think Albert Finney. Although his age is against him for a decent run of movies (like Bernard Lee, say) but I think he has the look and air about him to pull it off. Fiennes is suited to more devious, debonair characters and not an 'M' figure...but I'll eat my words if I am proved wrong in October!

More "campy" mode of transportation for 007: Melina's yellow Citroen 2CV in FYEO or Jaws' clapped-out old van which breaks down in the desert in TSWLM?

Jaws' clapped-out old van which breaks down in the desert in TSWLM, though it's a close battle.

Better early script draft idea that was not used:

The Spy Who Loved Me: Left-wing terrorists take over SPECTRE and try to use a nuclear submarine to attack the world's oil fields

or

Octopussy: Octopussy Smythe uses her knowledge of Tracy Bond's murder to enlist Agent 007's aid in a plot against SPECTRE?

The Octopussy idea sounds a lot better than the befuddled mess they eventually went with. The SWLM idea sounds too political for a Bond film, and would have made SPECTRE seem feeble.

Most bizarre early draft idea:

Dr No as a monkey

or

Goldfinger's twin brother in Diamonds Are Forever

Anthony Hopkins as Alec Trevelyan in GoldenEye

or

James Mason as Sir Hugo Drax in Moonraker?

Most inexplicable action by a henchman:

Wint and Kidd placing Bond in a pipe without harming a hair on his head.

or

The cigar girl blowing herself up rather than just shooting Bond in the face, which is what she had been trying to do.

Better discarded script idea:

On Her Majesty’s Secret Service:James Bond getting plastic surgery at the beginning to explain why he's now being played by George Lazenby instead of Sean Connery

or
A View to a Kill: Zorin plans to attack Silicon Valley by manipulating Halley's Comet?

James Bond getting plastic surgery at the beginning to explain why he's now being played by George Lazenby instead of Sean Connery.

Close call...but that would be ludicrously interesting to see and hear!

Best method of trying-to-kill-007-but-dragging-it-out-ever-so-slowly-that-Bond-gets-to-escape, by a villain:

Dr Kananga tying up Bond and Solitatre to feed to the sharks...but making sure it's "Slowly, Whisper...slowly!"

OR

Hugo Drax leaving Bond and Goodhead in the shuttle exhaust bay waiting for the rocket to launch... and giving a speech in the meantime.

Hugo Drax leaving Bond and Holly Goodhead to be barbecued by the Space Shuttle exhaust..how he failed to check Bond's watch for the plastic explosives is beyond me! LOL

Cheesier in-film song performance: B.J. Arnu singing "Live And Let Die" when Felix and Bond enter the Fillet Of Soul in New Orleans or Minnie Driver "singing, or rather lip synching" "Stand By Your Man" as Bond and Zukovsky chat in Goldeneye?

Minnie Driver 'performing' "Stand By Your Man" as Bond and Zukovsky chat in GoldenEye. Such a strange, pointless and badly dubbed moment...it's quite surreal!

Improvised flame thrower is looking a little weak these days...so I'll go with shark bait which never goes out of style.

Forster; even he wouldn't be as "experimental" as Tarantino gets, to the detriment of some of QT's films.

Better deleted lines:
