Some sad news:

Bob Anderson, the sword trainer on Die Another Day (and according to IMDB also worked on the 1967 version of Casino Royale) as well as many other films has passed away, aged 89.

Gary Kurtz (producer of Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back) announced the following on his facebook page:

It is with great sadness that we report that Bob Anderson, the man behind the lightsabre fights in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, and legendary swordplay in countless other films, has died at the age of 89. We had the very great pleasure of working with Bob numerous times over the years and always found him to be a gentleman, a professional and a legend. It was a privilege to know him and our thoughts are with his family and loved ones at this sad time. RIP Silverblade Bob. (http://originaltrilo...12/topic/13676/)

Here is Empire's announcement:

Of course, one cannot forget his contribution to many other films, such as Lord of the Rings Trilogy and the recent Zorro movies, going back to days of Erroll Flynn.

Rest In Peace, Mr. Anderson.

If you watch the Making of... features on DAD you'll see him coaching Pierce Brosnan and Toby Stephens (although I'm not sure if it was the region 2 exclusive feature or not that included it).

He was an absolute genius.

Despite the the criticisms that can and have been made about DAD, the sword fight was flawless.

Rest In Peace.

Region one has them. I'll go get it, pop it in and do a screen grab for you, TCK. Also, RIP, Bob

Found that video since Raybond's post. Don't know if that's what you are referring to, though.

Well, the making of thing that I thought was not on the second disc. What I saw was on the MI-6 datastream thing, and I can not get my computer to play it.

Saturday Night Live mentioned his passing during Weekend Update. Ten minutes into the Youtube link.

That sword sequence was one of the best parts of that film, thanks in part I'm sure to Mr. Anderson's hard work R.I.P
