I've tackled the U.S. Signet paperbacks today. Enjoy.

These were the first Fleming novels I read, lent to me by my mother's friend. The only difference is that the Thunderball novel she had was a movie tie in, so it had Connery in the orange dive suit surrounded by girls. Still, I'd argue that these books are the most enjoyable way to read Fleming (if that makes sense). Nice article Zen.

Great post. I found a copy of Live and Let Die in good condition recently and snatched it up.

I think for so many Americans, these Signets provided our first encounter with Ian Fleming.

A number of years ago, a writer for Maxim contacted me and was looking for an angle on a story about how lots of people have valuable James Bond stuff in their attics and basements.

I had to break it to him that the Signets just aren't worth much.

Unless you have those early ones or the elusive DAF first edition.

The 1962 Signet ones are one of the best ones, follow by the 80s Berkley ones. Three of my favorite cover art from the 62 Signet are Casino Royale, Live And Let Die and Thunderball.

I'll always have a soft spot for these. They were my introduction to the literary Bond.

I also took at look at the Berkleys, Syndicate.
