since then not a dicky bird on these projects? did Bond 23's hiatus mean the producers switched their allegiance back to Bond, and the projects are now dead and buried?

I guess their allegiance to Bond has never changed.
But EON likes to option other stuff, with the possibility of branching out and doing other films as well.
Maybe, due to the MGM situation, optioning projects different from Bond were a plan B for the time in which a new Bond film was impossible.
