Good Man!

Yes this was news about a week ago but they turned up at Haggis' house only a few days ago? Nice to see them doing it quietly, sorry always skeptical about making things like that public.
Nice thing to do anyway. B)

Pictures of them at his house on this thread.

The fact is that anyone who has any assets and hadn't given has ultimately been strong-armed and guilted by others into coughing up cash...and if you didn't, you'd be labelled a cold bastard and reduced to pariah status.

Imagine the uproar in the rags if he hadn't!

It would be akin to a B)ing witch hunt!

Hopefully he wasn't stupid enough to hand over cash to that piece of  Wycliffe Jean.

Well I think it's smart having a tiered system like that. It prevents all the donated money to be used to rebuild the Government buildings (as needed as they are) and leaves the residual to be spent on long term housing for the people.

As for being labelled well I feel sorry for the people who feel they need to make it public in order to let us know that they aren't hard bastards.
I had no doubt in my mind that Craig was going to donate, he seems extremely generous, but I didn't need to know it or how much.
I mean this info can only come from his PR office but what's the point?

Spot on Mharkin B)

Yeah I only just stumbled across this, i guessed it might not have been brand new but i thought people should know about it:)

But what is wrong with celebs donating money to charitable causes?

Hell if he gives nothing, he's mean, but if he gives something its like 'oh he's only trying to boost his credibility'

Don't get me wrong i can't bear to watch stuff like comic relief and children in need, as i cant stand these knobs pretending to be kind and caring when they aren't. Makes me sick!

There are three reasons for donating:

1. You genuinely care

2. You want to look good in terms of PR.

3. You don't want to be seen as a social pariah if you didn't.

I would hope it was because of 1. and not 2. or 3.

I know he's a private man. Shame his giving/not giving wasn't kept private as well.

Well said B) and here's hoping Craig has not "gone all Hollywood".

I don´t get the problem - it was in Paul Haggis house along with many other celebs - so how could he keep it private, when there are pics from inside the house etc. There is an interview with Katie Curic with Hugh Jackman during ASR, who is talking about all the quiet generous things DC is doing. He is known, to not search any publicity...and certainly not on a subject matter like Haiti, but I think, it would have looked stupid and odd, if he had played "shy" when everybody else didn´t and we can´t even be sure, that it wasn´t Haggis, who gave out numbers of the generosity of his stars.

Bond did go to Haiti(so did Crocket/Tubbs!) in Quantum, albiet not the actual country, so it makes sense for Craig to donate $. Now, was it 250K($50K for 5 years) or $2.5M? I'm confused™.

It was 50 K for 5 years.
