I stand corrected once again. I promise not to make light of a film called COWBOYS AND ALIENS and have learned a valuable lesson in comedy from Frau Germanlady.
Good boy/man whatever Glad to have been of service.
Hmm, I dunno. Ford usually only takes lead roles, and that spot is occupied...would be fun though.
Maybe he remembers the good fun Seans cameo for Indie was.

Right - a cameo in a blockbuster film would´t be a bad move and his fans will appreciate it

Nearly every other thread now has either one or two more people being antagonized or stalked for their opinions or humour.
People must realise that, because we are a diverse group on here, humour, subtlety and good intentions are maybe lost in translation.
Leaping onto each other is out of order.
At the end of the day, we're all here for the same thing (I hope) and the view from taking the high road is a much nicer one.

We already did - just read back
Opinions are expressed and people move one - I doubt this will ever change...

For MOST actors that age, yeah. But less than two years ago, Ford was the star of the second highest grossing movie of the year. If Harrison Ford wants to be the lead in a summer blockbuster, he could tell his agent and he'd have ten offers the next day. I just find it unlikely that he'd agree to do a supporting role in someone else's popcorn movie when he could easily be the star of something else. But crazier stuff has happened I guess.

That would be kind of poetic...as James Bond once played Indy's Dad, now Indy can play Bond's sidekick

I seriously doubt, HF can pick up big roles these days - Indie was a sure bet and he was riding on his earlier success with those films. Plus he can afford to do such a film for the pur heck of it. He doesn´t have to proof anything to anybody anymore and can relax and just have fun.

Except that apart from Indy4, almost every film Ford has been in since Air Force One in 1997 has performed below expectations.

Ford is officially in. link
Maybe it's all a ruse and the movie is about a time traveling Indiana Jones
Cool, I'm excited. Wonder what he's playing. Is there a villain role in this? Damn, he's not playing an alien, is he?
I would think, it will be a fun cameo. Will be fun to see Bond and Indie play each other off.

I think that has more to do with Ford's poor choice of bland second rate thrillers and the bland white collar everyman he plays in them all than it does to do with his popularity with audiences. I mean, who could possibly work up any excitement for a movie like 'Firewall', regardless of who the star was? I think Ford in the right films is still a huge drawcard. He's played a couple of the most beloved movie characters in history and is a little like Sean Connery in that his association with those characters will keep his popularity with audiences no matter what dreck he appears in.Except that apart from Indy4, almost every film Ford has been in since Air Force One in 1997 has performed below expectations.

Another problem is that he hasn't actually *done* many films in the last decade. "What Lies Beneath" from 2000 was pretty successful, taking in $153 mil in the US, but he's only done four other films plus Indy since then, whereas the likes of Matt Damon and Brad Pitt have 2 or 3 movies out each year so that's probably contributing to Ford's fading status. But Ford appearing in a genre film like Cowboys is genuinely exciting and makes it more of an event film. Maybe this will be Ford's equivalent of The Rock, which was a huge comeback for Connery after a spell of forgettable flicks.
There still doesn't seem to be any info about who or what Ford is playing, I hope he's sort of a mentor to Craig, you know those two on screen together could potentially be great.

Regardless of what you or many others may think of CRYSTAL SKULLS, the movie was a major, major hit for Ford. And it was released only two years ago. The so-called spell of forgettable flicks for Ford ended with KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULLS. Of course, it started again with that movie he did with Brendan Fraser.

COWBOYS AND ALIENS
Mark this one down as potentially the most interesting project of the season. Iron Man helmer Jon Favreau is directing the big screen adaptation of the comic book of the same name, which is going to blend together science fiction with a western. He's attracted Harrison Ford to star (in his most interesting role in some time) opposite Daniel Craig, as the pair fight off an alien invasion in 1800s Arizona. Olivia Wilde is also appearing.

Taking on "COWBOYS AND ALIENS" seems to signal that he has given up on "INDY V" to be his next big blockbuster. Personally, I liked KOTCS but did not love it. But it already felt like an appropriate ending to the character´s arc (getting married and reuniting with his son). I don´t need a new Indy-film.
"COWBOYS AND ALIENS" however feels more and more interesting. Having "Han Solo/Indiana Jones" star together with "James Bond" - now that´s two people I want to see as western heroes battling E.T.s!

My excitement grows. This is the first Craig outing since CR where the hairs on the back of my neck have begun to tingle long before release.

Good news. My one concern had been that this one might be played mainly for laughs. I'm sure we'll get some humor, but thrills and chills sound guaranteed.

Got to say I had the opposite reaction; if there's one project where an overtly tongue-in-cheek/jokey approach would be appropriate, I'd say it's this one. Still, we shall see.
Maybe think about it this way - if there isn´t any serious, darker part in it, its difficult to build up excitement. I hope for a good mix like in Iron Man - funny but with some darker tones once in a while.

He also talked about how much he likes shooting with multiple cameras (to allow for so much of the breezy, zing-y qualities of the Iron Man films) but this is causing him a real headache over what to do with Cowboys and Aliens. He says he would only shoot a 3-D movie "in stereo" because the conversion technology "just isn't there yet," but you can't use multiple cameras and shoot in 3-D. As of now, he has yet to decide if Cowboys and Aliens will be in 3-D.

So I just finished up on COWBOYS & ALIENS, Jon Favreau's new movie. Looks like it's going to be a lot of fun, you know, like a Peanut Butter Cup. Two great tastes that... you know what I'm talking about. Anyway, I was responsible for designing the signature alien vehicle (oops! hope that's not a spoiler! There are...ALIENS in the movie! And they have some sort of... VEHICLE! I think I hear the Dreamworks police knocking as we speak! That's all you're going to get out of me though.)

Sam Rockwell saddling up for Jon Favreau's 'Cowboys and Aliens' (exclusive)
Rockwell_sam_200 Sam Rockwell is reteaming with Jon Favreau for another comic book adaptation, DreamWorks' "Cowboys and Aliens."
Rockwell, who portrays arms manufacturer Justin Hammer in the Favreau-directed "Iron Man 2," has joined the cast of "Cowboys," the alien invasion-meets-the Wild West project that Favreau begins shooting in June.
Daniel Craig, Olivia Wilde and Harrison Ford are already cast in the tale, based on a Platinum Studios graphic novel, of cowboys and Indians rising up against aliens.
Rockwell will play a bar owner named Doc who joins in the pursuit of the aliens. Once Favreau and the writers -- Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Damon Lindelof -- learned that Rockwell was interested in the movie, they reconceived and expanded the role, which initially called for a heavy-set man.
"Cowboys" keeps Gersh-repped Rockwell, who is known more for his smart indie fare such as "Moon," working in the big-studio world, at least for another movie.
Steven Spielberg, Ron Howard and Brian Grazer also are producing along with Scott Mitchell Rosenberg.

Director Jon Favreau has worked with some tremendously talented actors in his career – Robert Downey Jr. in the "Iron Man" films has to rank high on that list – but he's entering a truly elite area of fandom as Harrison Ford saddles up for "Cowboys & Aliens."
"Can you believe it? It's amazing," Favreau enthused when MTV's Josh Horowitz brought up the casting news in a recent interview. "I can't believe it still."
the wise-cracking Han Solo to the whip-snapping Indiana Jones, Ford has played some indisputable badasses over the course of his acting career. But he's also tapped into his softer side in movies like "Regarding Henry" and even the recently released "Extraordinary Measures." Luckily, in "Cowboys & Aliens," Ford's character will have a lot more in common with his gruffer heroes of yesteryear.
"I'm trying to make him what we love him to be," Favreau said of Ford's character. "Think about him whether it was 'American Graffiti,' Han Solo, 'Indiana Jones,' or 'Blade Runner.' He's sort of that edgy, likeable but not likeable guy. I don't like the cuddly Harrison Ford. I don't like the sensitive, thoughtful Harrison Ford."
So which Harrison Ford does Favreau like?
"I like the Harrison Ford where you don't know if he's going to kick your or if he's going to buy a drink and he's clearly getting tired of hearing you talk," the director laughed. "That's the Harrison Ford I like. The one who's heard enough from you. That's the Harrison Ford I like."
I like that Harrison Ford, too.
