I'd like to see what every devoted bond fan wants in NightFire, even if Gearbox doesn't read this and implement it, I think it would be a good idea to think up all sorts of ideas to make the Bond games more Bondish (which I don't think they've been).

My ideas are:

-Be able to do is pull a Nigel Powers and tell the henchmen 'Why don't you save yourself some trouble and just fall down?'.

-Bond should have lots and lots of unarmed combat moves, not just the punch/holster weapon option. I cannot imagine that creating the weapons and their functions is hard since 99% of all FPSes use the same sort of guns; therefore I would like to see some time spent on giving Bond the ability to knock people out, pistol-whip them, slam them into walls, shove them out of his way, and other fun things!

-The AI ought not to recognise Bond immediately (unless the level one is in demands this (naturally)). They also should try to capture Bond and then he could be placed in an 'overly-elaborate, easily-escapable deathtrap', or in jail, rather than just shooting him (which would go in tune to the films). If the AI does shoot, the first shot should miss (or in the case of machineguns, the first few).

-Besides extensive unarmed combat controls, the abilty to pick up kitchen knives, meat tenderisers, spanners, wrenches, screwdrivers, and even shovels would be greatly appreciated by me.

-Bond ought to be able to switch clothes with the characters, and slip by areas unnoticed.

-Grenades better not be a ball o' fire, and a 3 foot blast radius, I want everyone to get little bits of metal in them.

-Following up on wanting the henchmen to be in a world of hurt, I'd also like to see realistic reactions to getting shot: i.e. when you shoot a guy in the chest, he ought to pass out in pain. If he can be aided by an ally, fine, but I don't want him to barely flinch, and then empty his magazine into my face.

Well, those are my two cents on what I want in NF (or the next game). I think even at the best Bond site, we are dangerously low on ideas for a game.

yeh im with you man, the Ai need to have different reactions. They should be like "There he is", and "**** im shot", and even "call for back up". That would be cool. you should be able to hit guys with your guns also, by using the butts. I wouldnt mind using a kithen knife either. I would love to be able to tell unarmed guys what to do, like sit down, or to tell someone u jsut surprised, to drop thier guns.

Here is a list of characters I wish were in a Bond game for multiplayer. Maybe someone can make a NIGHTFIRE mod for them.

FROM MULTIPLE MOVIES: M, Q (Desmond Llewelyn), R, Miss Moneypenny, Felix Leiter, Jack Wade, Bill Tanner, Robinson, Valentin Zukovsky, Jaws, Ernst Stavro Blofeld, General Gogol, James Bond (Sean Connery), James Bond (George Lazenby), James Bond (Roger Moore), James Bond (Timothy Dalton), James Bond (Pierce Brosnan)

FROM SPECIFIC MOVIES:

Good idea for a thread General Koskov! It was my understanding that the enemy AI in NIGHTFIRE was going to be somewhat improved compared to that of AGENT UNDER FIRE and previous games, but you're right that it could use some improvements. I think I read somewhere that enemies in NIGHTFIRE will be more prone to calling for help, setting off alarms and more difficult to sneak up on though. I really liked your idea about improving Bond's unarmed combat abilities. I think certain game programmers could have alot of fun with experimentation in this area. I can think of two possible weapons that no Bond game (that I'm aware of) currently doesn't include: a flamethrower, or for more stealthy use, a garrotte wire like Red Grant utilized in FRWL.

I hope you can use both the Walther P99 and PPK.

I'd also like to see lots of guns. Not that they all have to have completely different effects, but sometimes you like the look of one gun and wish to use it through the game as opposed to a gun that does the same amount of damage, but looks different.

One other big point: enemies ought to run out of ammo and have to run away or fist-fight or give up. It's not the worst thing in most games, but sometimes you just wish that the guys would give up with the violence.

I was just thinking (rare occurence, as I've said before) and the radical idea popped into my head: why not make the next Bond game like the 'point-and-click' Grim Fandango-type games (not quite sure if that's 'pint-and-click' really) so that we are not constantly ashamed of our hero's bad AI, over-action-ed games. With this sort of a game, we'd truly be doing spy stuff and figuring out little puzzles, and having in depth conversations with the characters.

If I didn't like FPS's I'd be sold on this idea, but as it is, I really think it's a viable option. The FPS's appeal to 10- year olds as they are now, but this sort of game would involve older people, too. They could make both, and then more demographics would be covered.

They've implemented some things I've always wanted!:

[quote]From Official NightFire site

Many situations are better handled by stealth then strength.

Try activating anything that looks like a knob or switch or secret passageway -- anything that may be opened, turned on/off, destroyed, etc.

Shoot out overhead lights to remain hidden in the shadows.

If you sneak up on an enemy from behind, put your gun to his back and he

Sure, they may call it the PP7, but in the demo it was the Wolfram P2K (Walther P99). Who knows, maybe both guns are in it.

Ahh...****. Well, I don't mind the P99 as long as the PPK is there. And there's a revolver that has a name like Ruger, so hopefully we'll get another Cougar Magnum=type gun that can shoot two guys at once!

I put down my preorder for nightfire(PC) today at EB...Its looking like its shaping up to be an excellent game...Im also waiting for SDK to come out so I can start building some great DM/CTF maps as well...

I did hear that only Brosnons 007 is the only one available in the game due to artistic licensing issues(i.e. paying to use the face)...So it'll be up to the homebrew MOD community to create skins for Connery, Lazenby, Moore and that Timmy Dalton guy...

Is that legal (to create other actors' skins)? Since no one is paying for mods, I'd say no, but then people pay for the game to get and make mods, so it gets a little wishy-washy to me.

Its completly legal to create skins..its been done with games like the quake series for years. The only stipulation is that you make them free and dont sell them for profit.

That's good; it's what I was hoping. Along the lines of the hat-throwing Oddjob, I hope they have a steel-toothed Jaws who can bite people.

I've been playing the PC Demo. Maybe it's just the fact that it's a demo, but the AI (in my opinion) is REALLY bad. I was right in front of a guy's face in the first level of the demo -- and he doesn't do anything at all! I shoot him in the chest -- he stumbles around, runs away, and STANDS there!! Shooting him multiple times only made him run away again! Finally I killed him and, I must say, that was quite a realistic death -- with stumbling around, falling to knees, gripping chest, etc. Maybe it's just the fact that I was playing on Operative Mode... grr...

They should have at least one unlockable multiplayer level(s) -- one from each movie.

DR. NO: The Beach >or< Dr. No's Fortress
FRWL: The Orient Express >or< The Gypsy Camp
GOLDFINGER: Fort Knox (duh)
TB: An underwater battle level! >or< Shrublands. Now THAT would be funny.
YOLT: Blofeld's Lair
OHMSS: Piz Gloria (the fortress) >or< Piz Gloria (the mountain itself!)
DAF: hmmm... any suggestions?
LALD: Kanaga's Lair
TMWTGG: Scarmanga's Island (a BIIIIIG level)
TSWLM: Atlantis
MR: The Space Station (w/ Moonraker lasers!)
FYEO: Suggestions?
OP: Octopussy's Island
AVTAK: The Golden Gate Bridge, baby! WITH CABLES YOU CAN SWING FROM!
TLD: Afghanistan Air Base >or< Bangladesh (from the part with Kara the
"Sniper") >or< Gibraltar (from the pretitle sequence)
LTK: Hmmmm....
GE: The Dish (duh) >or< St. Petersburg!! (with a tank!!)
TND: Carver's Building (in Saigon) >or< The Parking Lot (with the car!!)
TWINE: Renard's Island (lots of unlockable islands, huh?) >or< MI6!!
