But with involvement from our West Coast CBn friends, I hope we can expect lots of great coverage to make it feel like we were there.

Excited to see one of my old professors, Rick Jewell, will be conducting them. Really looking forward to this.
Nice. That'll be pretty cool, zen.

I will disagree about "equal accolades" but as Harry Saltzman would not have his centenary for another few years, this makes complete sense to honour Cubby Broccoli and his life's work and legacy. What about Harry? In my opinion he should receive equal accolades, if not even more.

Tidbits were revealed about 23. Marc Forster will not be directing -- although he did say he would like to do another in the future... Martin Campbell was also mentioned as someone they would like to work with again... Puvis & Wade are in the midst of writing the script and when asked if 23 would be a "fun" movie -- Ms. Broccoli asked Purvis & Wade (kiddingly) to work on some "jokes"... Micheal G. Wilson did say that MGM is in the same transition as they were back in the early 90's and the was no mention of a release date or start date... With both Ms. Broccoli and Micheal G. Wilson in New York -- the city could play a big role in 23.
After the Q & A, there was a screening of a brand new print of "The Spy Who Loved Me." That was a spectacular visual treat. Not a scratch on the film.

It was shown digitally and not from a print. Of the four digital presentations (DR, GF and OHMSS were also projected digitally) TSWLM was the weakest presentation. After the Q & A, there was a screening of a brand new print of "The Spy Who Loved Me." That was a spectacular visual treat. Not a scratch on the film.

Bryce: Thanks again and if Dan needs a stand in, I work cheap.
BB: (giving me a quick head to toe look) That's good to know.
But there was one last bit.
Michael was also kind enough to grant me this photo with me and my friend Joy. BTW - She's not falling asleep, the pic just caught her mid blink. Kinda cute though.
Yeah, this one's getting framed.
See you guys tonight.

I was at the panel as well and have a completely different take than Mr. Osato. First off, lets start by saying that none of the panelist looked excited to be there (this was later explained off as Jet-Lag). What the audience heard was nothing but fluff with most of the answers kept short. As this was supposed to be a celebration of Cubby's centennial, I was surprised that nary a mention was made of the man. Most of the discussion focused on the change in films from Brosnan to Craig and the direction of Casino Royale and QOS. Even when the panel was opened to questions, not one person asked what everyone wanted to know...What is going on with Bond 23 at this time. Some of the questions were so stupid that BB and MGW barely knew how to answer them. I hate to say it, but I felt like it was a lost opportunity and wasted time on my part. Most of this drivel was better said on the DVD's. Anyone who was not there should not feel like they missed anything, because you didn't.
so, why didn't you ask them a better question??!

That's today's panel. Last night was about Bond.As this was supposed to be a celebration of Cubby's centennial, I was surprised that nary a mention was made of the man.
I thought there were a few very good questions. In fact, I though there were many good questions, we've just heard them all before (along with the answers). I liked that our own Brisco asked about bringing back Moneypenny, Q, and Blofeld, even if Robert Wade just squirmed his way through it and didn't answer (expect for in the case of Blofeld - no). I also thought the young girl who asked if they thought the series could be sustained without bringing back the element of ironic humor. Again, lots of squirming from the panel and no real answer. Pretty clear this might be a cutting edge issue.
I was bummed no one asked flat out, "What can you tell us about the next one?" I was counting on that. But I think these film students were trying to come up with intelligent questions, and this is just rabid fanboy comic con question (but it's really all we're interested in). I think Babs would have said "Nothing." Everyone would have laughed. There would have been a lot of vague teasing, etc. But then Michael G. Wilson (who I just love, btw -- he seems like such a centered, unflappable, mellow guy) would have taken over and given a respectful, considered answer that would have given up something.
How about merging the two threads on this?

BTW, the Los Angeles Comic Con is going on today right across the street from USC at the Shrine. Luciana Paluzzi will be there. You can make a whole day of it!

I'm looking forward to tonight and it'll be nice to see Richard again as well.
Hopefully I can get a pic with Barbara. I'm also bringing along a little something else that I can give to either one of them.
See you later my friend and I'm planning to stick around for the CR screening.

Great tales from all those involved. I again got the chance to thank both BB and MGW and got my pic with Barbara. Said hello to both Richard and Maud and then had a great bit of chat with Tom afterwards. Man, he had some great bits about Cubby and Harry that had everyone rolling.
Harry to Tom: "So, Bond thinks he's in bed with Solitaire, but it's really and alligator! It'll be great!" That one floored the house.
It was great to see the crew and our old buddy from the BCW's Alan Stephenson turned up and along with Colin and John Cork, we were chatting up old school afterwards with Bond music blasting through the courtyard in front of the theater.
Again, these guys are so easy and approachable. For anyone that has the chance to meet them if only to say thank you, they are kind and know that they and the series are where they are because of fans.
This was really a kind of "once in a lifetime" event IMO (and certainly not the last) and all of them really enjoyed it.
One issue, Colin - I should have checked the pic better, but NEVER hand a writer a camera. You owe me dude. Barbara had her eyes closed in mid blink but she was smiling and lovely to talk to.
Well, either that or she was thinking "who is this wanker?"
I doubt the latter....Then again....
This was special gang. No two ways about it.
Thank you again Barbara and Michael for taking the time.
P.S. : Ms. Broccoli - Blame the cameraman. Not me, but thank you.

I see you didn't (infamous headlights on picture) have the same effect on Babs that Daniel did.
Kidding, you get around don't you Bryce?

"Sounds like Sean."
I almost lost it.
Great fun last night. I didn't stick around for CR as I had thought I would, but it was grand.

Well yes I do. Speaking with Tom, he asked what I was up to. I told him "brunettes and redheads and failing that, about a pint a day of single malt."
"Sounds like Sean."
I almost lost it.
