Gemma Arterton outshines Keira Knightley in the battle of the West End girls (but it was the premiere of her new play)
They're birds of a feather as far as acting goes, both being successful British women who've recently moved from the big screen to the West End stage.
And the mutual respect between Gemma Arterton and Keira Knightley was clearly evident last night when the actresses attended a party to celebrate the opening night of Gemma's new play The Little Dog Laughed.
Both ladies looked great at the event, which was held at the Trafalgar Hotel in London, but it was obvious Keira had chosen a subtle ensemble to allow her contemporary to bask in her glory.
Keira, 24, arrived at the party in an understated, knee-length black dress and black heels, taking none of the limelight away from Arterton, who turned 24 last week.
While Gemma, who stars alongside Keira's boyfriend Rupert Friend in the West End production, took her chance to shine in a grey mini-dress with blocks of blue and dark grey across the front, teamed with a short leather jacket.
The Bond actress recently praised Knightley, as she criticised the British attitude towards successful people.
