Hey guys. Sorry to fill up the QOS page with needless photoshops and edits. Just one more, and this one's kinda interesting. I threw together a new gunbarrel, with Daniel from QOS into the Goldeneye barrel, with the score from the end of Casino Royale.

What's interesting is that I didn't slow down Craig's walk at all, which made me realise that Craig is walking at the SAME speed as the other Bonds. It's just that in QOS, the dots at the start, the fast paced music, and the quick sliding blood makes him appear to walk faster, and obviously adds up to the ultimately shorter gunbarrel.

Take a look:

That Youtube version sometimes doesn't work, so feel free to download the higher quality one:

Great work!

You've put the United Artists theme over the Columbia logo? B)

I know! Gah, that's actually the QOS video with the GE audio at the start, and I never got around to changing it. Damn. Well... at least it slightly fits. Yeah, I'll be kicking myself over that one for a bit.

Yeah. I like that better than the actual QOS gunbarrel. Nice job! B)
I was surprised that THAT was how "slow" Craig was walking. I thought that he was walking WAAAY faster than that.

Exactly! Me too until I put him in there. Now I'd be perfectly happy to see this Daniel Craig walk repeated at the start of Bond 23, because he's most definitely walking at the right speed.

Yeah. I'd be fine with the speed, but they'd better get the Kleinman design of the gunbarrel back. I know that this post probably belongs in a different forum, but I think that the MK12 design looks more like a camera...

In truth, it looks more like an actual gunbarrel than the Kleinman design does. The Kleinman design doesn't behave much like a gunbarrel at all.

Is that the point? That it should look like a real gunbarrel?

Wouldn't it be acceptable to leave out the gritty realism in these 10 seconds? After all, it is a signature motif for the EON Bondfilms, and nothing else. No one will belive that he actually kills someone here anyway...

Not by any means. I was just making an observation, since he suggested that the MK12 design looked more like a camera than a gunbarrel. Frankly, it doesn't, since it's a more accurate look than Kleinman's design.

But I will say that just from an aesthetic perspective, I love MK12's gunbarrel. It's simple, clean, and retro, and I much prefer its approach to the super-glossy look of Kleinman's gunbarrel. And, for what it's worth, Kleinman actually designed a gunbarrel closer to the MK12 design (you can glimpse it in the TND theatrical trailer; it's a pretty significant revamp of the gunbarrel concept), but it was rejected by EON.

Wow! This is fantastic!

I'm glad this video exists, as it finally proves that Daniel Craig was not doing a "chav-walk" for his gunbarrel. B)

I love MK12's gunbarrel as well. I thought that it was a brilliant design, with a great retro vibe to it, just as you said. Hopefully they continue with that style in BOND 23 if they feel the need to use the sequence again (although it's still a sequence that I wouldn't mind seeing left out of the rest of the films).

I also like Kleinman's design for the sequence as well, and this is a brilliant video that shows us what the sequence probably would have looked like if Kleinman had worked on QUANTUM OF SOLACE. Great job. B)

Well, not really. Brosnan and Craig's gunbarrel walks are both faster than the older ones. That's why they can never get the theme music to fit properly these days.

Craig's walk is actually twice as fast as Dalton's.

Thanks for the smile-inducing comments guys.

I've now put together a Bond 23 concept, which is the QOS barrel edited to work more classically:

That's splendid, 001carus. I hope something similar to this is used to open Craig's third outing.

Holy cow, that's awesome! Really professionally edited and could fit into a Bond film easily. I like how you mixed around how the Bond them is used too.

I'd also be happy to see them use the CR design in Bond 23, but either way I'm more and more convinced that the Binder style should be left in the past.

Really bondelicious. Something like this must be in the next 007 film.

I always wondered how to get a really good quality version of the gunbarrel without Bond. What programme(s) did you use?

Well for the first one (Craig in Goldeneye) it was actually a matter of going into Adobe Flash (I know, most definitely not designed for this, but worked quite well) and importing the Goldeneye gunbarrel (Ripped from the UE DVD), then importing the QOS gunbarrel (Ripped from the QOS DVD) behind it. From there, I masked Pierce Brosnan out in the shape of a circle, so we can see Daniel Craig behind instead. From there, obviously the blood won't show up on Craig, so I shape tweened that myself. I also had to make a number of small adjustments to fix timing, make sure none of DC's gunbarrel was visible etc.

For the Bond 23 Concept, I simply made my own dots at the start, which move a lot slower than they do in QOS. Then I imported the QOS gunbarrel and let that play out until Daniel Craig fires his gun, at which point I paused it. I then added in my own blood with another shape tween. The effect I used is 'multiply' so you can see through the blood and it gives everything the red look.

Now, I'm quite sure there are better ways of going about this. I think Adobe After Effects would be a wiser choice, but since I don't have it (I'm actually picking it up in a few days), I work with what I have. Thanks for asking. Hope this answers your question. If I haven't explained it clearly or haven't answered it, feel free to let me know. B)
