First, let me say that I love the title QoS and love the movie -- even more so now that I've watched it for the third time on DVD.
But...I'm still mulling over the two totally different and disconnected meanings of the word Quantum:
1) Bond's emotional state at the end of the movie ("He's got his QoS.")
2) The name of a criminal organization that operates during the movie
Imagine if OHMSS had been called "Spectre of Sorrow"? Same idea.
I can see how the casual moviegoer may not understand the connection between the two uses of the word "quantum". In fact, I'm still not sure why the bad guys call themselves Quantum - and I hang out here!
Anyone else have any insights into the dual meanings here? Just curious.
Apologies if this has been asked before -- I've only joined recently.
Quantum vs. Quantum?

I took Quantum to be a "quantum leap" ahead of Spectre, or just exponentially more dangerous...remember Mr. White's laughter at M's questions?
BTW, this is the first post I've made re: QoS. This is one hard picture to figure out (the artsy action, Bond's less apparent charm;etc.)
When I first saw this film I couldn't tell if I loved it or hated it.
The fact that I bought the DVD and watched it twice immediately is my quantum of solace, in place of a definate answer.

I think a similar conception of Quantum of Solace would be to retitle the film version of FRWL as From SPECTRE with Love; it refers to both the evil organization and the plot of the film!
