I'm not sure if I'm going to buy the first release of QoS on DVD or Blu Ray. Every time the next release is better, it has more special features than the first, it's case it's better and generally it takes better care from EON. Ont he other hand I can't wait to see the film in the comfort of my sofa.

Does anyone feel the same around here?

It's Bond--I'll support the double dip.

I'm tight on cash right now and the current release has little extras (which have been released on TV already - I've seen them all)....I'll wait

If there is a deluxe edition of QUANTUM OF SOLACE, nicely presented and packaged in the same manner as CASINO ROYALE, then I'll certainly go for that.

I'm actually the opposite; not in any hurry to get this edition, but I'll be first in line for the re-release, especially if it's on-par with the superb Casino Royale re-issue (which I bought twice!).

I'll probably cave and buy Quantum of Solace before this, but right now, I'm not in any hurry.

(I should point out that we only have a single-disc, bare-bones DVD version here in Australia.)

Since my library bought like 9 copies and no one can reserve them since its considered a Best Seller DVD I can just get them from their whenever I want to watch it and I will buy the double dip when it comes out since I am willing to bet it will be the Ultimate Edition version of the film since MGM is releasing it and it already had DTS so all it needs is some commentary tracks and some more special features.

as far as im concerned the current release has the best feature possible, the movie itself.

if there is a new release a couple years from now i will probably not buy it myself but ask for it for christmas.

I've got my copy of the current release already, but in the knowledge that I will almost certainly double dip when the super-duper version comes out. The special features aren't great on the current DVD, but they're okay, and the film is the most important thing after all. The biggest gap in the features is a audio commentary or two, but I'm sure this will be rectified in two or three years time. Till then, I'm just glad to have QoS in my DVD collection.

Even though I hate the practice of "double dipping" in general, I'm sure I'll pick up the deluxe version of QoS when it comes out.

I hesitated much but amazon uk had a nice price for it so I bought it from there (no French subtitles though, but that'll help improve my English…) ; and this way I can have it now and cheaper, it's planned to be released in May here for much a higher price.
And surely I will buy the next ultimate superspecial edition !

Me.

I'll be happy to wait for the DVD edition with commentary and more features. And if the box art is as awesome as the collector's edition of CR, so much the better.

This edition will do me fine. The movie is the most important thing. The commentaries are usually boring for modern films because they've said all there is to say in interviews to promote the film.
What I do find disgusting is that the US, UK and probably Australian release of the most recent edition of CR is still cut. Making people double dip for a film that is incomplete I find to be very unfair. The uncut edition from Hong Kong is far more powerful and not stating on the R1&2 editions that it has been edited by the censors isn't right.

I'll buy whatever edition I find cheap first (say $7 or less). I'm not in that big of a hurry to own and don't care enough for the film to feel the need to have any additional material a second release could offer.

I'm perfectly content with the current Blu-ray edition of Quantum of Solace (in terms of the content of the disc), but the only thing that bothers me is the cover art for the film. Both of Craig's films feature a gray background. The cover art needs a little variety, I think, and for the special edition that is undoubtedly coming at some point for QoS, I can't imagine that the cover art will be any better if they follow the example set by CR and use the teaser poster, which I thought was terrible and even more bland than the current QoS cover art, for that edition of the film.

The only reason I would get another copy of QoS would be if they released a true director's cut of the film, or if there were an extensive number of deleted scenes included. Short of that, I'm happy with the current content on the disc.

Well, I got my copy for £7 so it pretty much cost me nothing. However, I will be buying the delux edition when it comes out.

Here there was only 1 disc DVD released with no special features and btw only dubbed! B)
So I'll wait for pirates' 2 disc DVD and will buy the delux semi-pirated version.
I've never been interested in Bond films before CR and don't know how Brosnan Bond films were released, but it's a shame really that they didn't bother to at least include original sound and by releasing such awful R5 DVDs frankly speaking I don't know how they plan to stop piracy...

DVD's are relatively cheap. Its not too hard to find the DVD for the price of two Big Mac meals. I dont really understand waiting 6 months or more for the next edition of you're a big Bond fan.

I may be wrong, but I believe the Australian edition features Casino Royale uncut.

According to what I have found the region 2 and 4 releases are the same meaning that the scene with the rope(ouch!) has been slightly cut. The region 1 DVD is far worse as it has the fight on the stairs cut with much of the power lost(this was the same as the US theater release). The Hong Kong edition is uncut. HK has by far the best version , followed by UK/Australia and in last place US. I have seen all of these three editions and the HK one is the only one worth purchasing. As for other countries editions I have no idea, but beware as I'm sure the cuts are more extreme in some other countries.

I'll probably end up buying multiple copies of this movie. (At one point, I had 4 copies of CR!) I'm not waiting for the collector's edition, but if it comes out, I'll most certainly get it.

Nah. I might have been tempted a couple of years ago, but for some reason (though there are exceptions, especially TV shows; I zipped through the extras on my Simpsons and Fast Show DVDs for example) my interest in extras has waned considerably over the last couple of years. Although I enjoy commentaries, making ofs, deleted scenes and so forth, but there are many times when even for films I really like I just don't seem to ever get round to watching them. The extras on the CR 2-disc edition were admittedly stingy for such a set, but also perfectly sufficient as far as I was concerned. It looks like the QOS extras will be too. I already haven't waited, and I doubt I'll double-dip either.

I'm not as big on video special features as I used to be when I discovered DVD. I find a lot of video bonus material feels like EPK fluff these days.

There are exceptions of course, such as the 'making of' found on David Fincher DVDs and the one found on the Blade Runner DVD. I also like the ones found on the Ultimate Edition Bonds.

What I've grown to appreciate over the years are audio commentaries. I really like hearing what went into the writing, casting and directing for specific scenes in movies. Given that this QOS release doesn't have an audio commentary, I'm skipping it. I'll end with the Blu-Ray anyways because I'll buy the inevitable complete set Blu-Ray box whenever they release it, but as it stands right now, I'm not buying QOS.

The main reason I didn't get the two-DVD set this time around is because I understand that the rumored "alternate ending" didn't make it into the special features. I'm hoping that footage is included in whatever special edition comes out later on.

That's good because I was told it had the same cuts as the UK release. I'm pleased this isn't true.
