After watching Quantum again, I still can't get over one thing. If Quantum of Solace is supposed to take place one or two hours after Casino Royale, how is it M was able to get into Vesper's apartment, do a DNA match of the hair strand, get a whole file on Yusef, and fly over to Siena, Italy in a matter of hours??? Her pilot must have been winging it (no pun intended )!

My guess is that while Quantum of Solace does pick up almost immediately after the end of Casino Royale, the amount of time between Bond looking through Vesper's phone after she dies and meeting Mr. White is up in the air. Bond could have shot White say a week or a few days later- plenty of time for M to get all that information. That's my guess though.

Yeah, if I were to put some sort of continuity in it, I'd put the last scene of CR in 2008, and the stuff before it in 2006. Hence two years allowing for MI6 to do the above.

We've had this argument bfore: there's no way M would allow Bond two years to track down White. If Quantum were concerned about being found out, they'd regularly change locations, telephones and so on. Given that M knew of Bond going after White, it's obvious he informed her about White and that he was of some standing in the organisation. M may not have been thrilled about Bond being the one to go after White, but he was the closest agent at hand and MI6 would want someone like White very quickly. At most, I'd say about two weeks passed between the discussion on the boat and the epilogue to CASINO ROYALE, which fits given the date on the security disc at the Ocean Club and the date of the second running of the Palio di Siena.

But that is neither here nor there: the point is that some time elapsed between the conversation with M and the epilogue. It doesn't matter that CASINO ROAYLE is in 2008 and QUANTUM OF SOLACE is two years later; if the producers can ignore the fact that six different actors have played James Bond, they can ignore something as minor as the year a film is set in. If you ask me, both films are set in 2006 AND in 2008 because James Bond films have always been set in the current time, and the two films are back-to-back sequels.

Exactly what I thought. Then MI6 could have totally prepared to pick up White.
