My youngest son will be three years old on that day, so it isn't an all dreadful day for me, but I'll remember him for sure. Great actor and to me the best Blofeld of them all in one of the best Bond films to date (and my favourite). If OHMSS will be released on Blue Ray, I will buy myself a player and start collecting. Untill then, the ulitmate edition dvd('s) will have to do. Certainly hope for prices to drop considerably on BD-players and BD-movies as well, in the meantime and for the playback issues to be solved.

Definitely the best Blofeld, or my favourite at least. Wasn't long after that we lost Pleasance as well.

My favourite as well. Hard to believe it's been 15 years. Amazing.

Funny. I'm just halfway through Escape from Athena with Telly and the two Bonds Roger Moore and David Niven. Thinking it was sad he didn't make Blofeld in DAF too against Lazenby. What a dream, what a dream...

Just some Telly-related thoughts...indulge an old man, won't you?

The other day I was thinking about Telly's most famous role--Kojak--(duh)-- and how powerful and gritty that show was at the time. NYC looked so rotten and the crooks even more so. When I was a kid I thought that Kojak was a program for the adults, because it was on later (Mondays at 10pm, IIRC) and Kojak didn't usually run after the crooks, instead having Crocker do it. Yet there were kids with Kojak silkscreen T-Shirts, a book & record adventure, and trading cards(?) and Savalas let the fame go to his head, but he was wildly popular and "cool"; even to we elementary school kids.

I saw OHMSS much later and liked him in it; he's always worth watching, and he was deliciously sinister in THE DIRTY DOZEN and charming as heck in BIRDMAN OF ALCATRAZ. Savalas really was one of a kind...

FYI: KOJAK's credits font was the same one used by MAGNUM P.I. years later.

His Blofeld is one of the best and most underrated villains in the series. It's beyond me why they didn't ask him back for Diamonds Are Forever. Then again, seeing him camp it up by dressing up as a woman would have taken away a lot of the quiet menace he brings to the part in OHMSS, so maybe it was good he wasn't cast.

Simply the best Blofeld and possibly the best villian of them all. Can't believe it's already 15 years since he left us! He should have returned for DAF along with Lazenby for sure.

I enjoy lollipops still. Can't say I'd ever shave my head though.

On Her Majesty's Secret Service was the first Bond film, in which a Greek guy starred. You are greatly missed Telly!
