QOS is the closest thing to reality of those 5 movies. Therefore in won't win.

There are no people with capes, cowls, makeup, aliens and sleak body armour in QOS...hence the prize will go elsewhere.

I think The Dark Knight will win this time round, no question. BUT, I would love to be proved wrong. :(

Bat or Bond, either way it's a win for me.

TDK was barely an action movie. I loved it, but more as a crime thriller about a charismatic terrorist anarchist.

It's a shame that there are no prizes for second place because QUANTUM OF SOLACE would probably have been a shoo-in. I can't see a winner other than THE DARK KNIGHT though.

I probably should have answered that in my initial article (in fact, I might go back and do just that).

But to answer your question, the Broadcast Film Critics Association is "the largest film critics organization in the U.S. and Canada, representing 199 television, radio and online critics."

These awards are going on this evening, but QUANTUM OF SOLACE failed to win either category. Bruce Springsteen won Best Song and THE DARK KNIGHT won Best Action Movie. No complaints from me on either.

I thought TDK was a gigantic mess, just hated every minute of it. Oh well, always a bridesmaid but never a bride. :(

I loved The Dark Knight, but honestly I'm sick and tired of hearing about it winning every award there is...or going to win every award. lol.

Perhaps QoS could have been pushed back for 2009 to allow more for scenes to guide the story a bit to slow the endless action and give people time to take OFF their TDK goggles and enjoy other movies that don't have Batman appearing.

TDK was a brilliant film (best one I saw last year) but best action movie? I wouldnt even consider it an action movie. It was a thriller with a couple of action scenes. The truck chase was about the only scene in the film that was really an impressive set peice.

I am surprised QOS was nominated. Is it because there was not enough action films for the year? It is one of the most incompetently shot big budget action films of all time. I understand they were trying to be stylish by shooting the action up close, but it does not work because it makes it hard to see what is happening.

I find that to be a great exaggeration. I'd say QUANTUM OF SOLACE was nominated because it was the second best action movie of 2008. In many people's books, that may mean 2008 was a weak year. So be it.

That is not saying much about a movie. We might as well line up to hear the pic for the second greatest beer commercial of 2008. How about the second greatest dog trick?

That is not saying much about a movie.

That may be the case, but in a category for Best Action Movie (a genre in which there are relatively few movies each year), a Bond film is always guaranteed a nomination.

..Which says more about the respected history of the Bond films that it does Quantum.

My sentiment remains the same. QoS is a much better action movie, but that's because it actually aspires to be. TDK was trying to do other things.
