007 on Spike, USA, and Showtime

For some reason Spike TV did not release highlights for December but since TV guide.com's listings go two weeks ahead of time a possible marathon can be seen through this site by looking at the week of Christmas. Using this I found out that on Monday December 22 (week of Christmas) that Moonraker, For Your Eyes Only, and Octopussy are scheduled back to back to back starting at 9 AM ET but they do not have the rest that week up yet so tomorrow I will report to see what the Bond movies that are on for that Tuesday but I did hear that Thunderball may be the first movie on Tuesday but I won't know for sure until the listings come out. Its good to see that Spike at least has a Christmas marathon when they did not have a Thanksgiving marathon and that none of the Brosnan movies (except DAD) will be in the marathon since USA network now has the rights to them and will be playing them around the same time.

UPDATE: I kept hitting the red arrow on the TV listings on TV guide.com and found out the listings for Tuesday and Wednesday of that week and the Bond films are as followed:

Tuesday December 23
10AM Live and Let Die
12:30PM The Man with The Golden Gun
3:30PM The Spy Who Loved Me

Wednesday December 24
9AM Thunderball
12 Noon You Only Live Twice
2:30PM Diamonds Are Forever
5:30PM Never Say Never Again

It seems there is a pattern or is it just me because the first day of the marathon they play the last three Moore films and the 2nd day they played the first three Moore films and the 3rd day just happens to have the last 4 Connery films so I think its a pretty good chance that on the 4th day of the marathon they would play the first three Connery films and maybe on the next day play the two Dalton and the one Lazenby films.

I don't even know why I watch these marathons, it's not like I don't have all the movies on dvd. There's just a novelty to it I guess, in any case thanks for the heads up. :(

Or is it a commercial marathon with Bond breaks? Hard to tell sometimes on Spike. But thanks for the info, Joe.

I checked the Friday TV listings for that week but sadly there are no Bond movies just a bunch of CSI episodes (which they have a week long marathon this week of them, plus a CSI: NY marathon next week) but I am hoping next week they might have bond films on the same days as during the Christmas week, kinda like what they did last year, but this is probably unlikely but you never know.

Isn't that the truth. 15 minutes more commercials than TBS. How i miss the TBS marathons. I almost get the feeling maybe Spike is winding down with 007. Anyone know how much longer they hold the rights?

Yes it seems so and they don't have the rights to GE, TND, and TWINE anymore but the others I have know idea but I would assume it would end sometime next year or early 2010. Hopefully a better network, like TCM, can pick up the rights when this happens.

Indeed. A year or so ago, it seemed like Spike would run a James Bond marathon of sorts pretty much on a monthly basis. Now you barely ever see them on the station anymore (except at the mindlessly bizarre times like 9am in the morning).

i don't see TCM doing a marathon. (and good for me, my crummy cable stole it from me and put it on their "digital" package" a few months ago.) they just don't do that stuff. i could see them maybe going to AMC.

Indeed; they'd probably work wonders with the better Connery films... :(
