I watched QOS for the third time and yes it did it for me. The first time was the one that I was mostly impressed but in the second viewing it dissapointed me. However I am happy after the third :(

The main reason for getting an ok for the third time is mainly because I watched it in a smaller screen. I watched it at the back of a theather, which had a cappacity of 50 and was full.

So my advice is watch it again in a smaller screen and far away from the screen :)

The main points didnt changed (the bad editing, awful boat chase, and the great style, etc) but everytihng seemed to be in control this time.

I think, for me at least, a lot of it has to do with brain-reaction time. Knowing where things are going allows the cerebrum to relax. One can see a chase sequence, for example, as an entity, rather than a series of jittery actions.

Like when reading music; after enough practice, it's phrases you read rather than the indiviudual notes.

Glad it's come around for you, YOLT. :(

It was ok for me at the first time and now is the same. Nothing really changed but visually I am more satisfied :)

I'm looking forward to seeing it on DVD, in better definition and on a smaller screen.

I enjoyed it more the second time - and it was on a smaller screen. I think the combination of knowing what is going to happen and the smaller format makes for a much more enjoyable experience. :(

I watched it on a smaller screen and I enjoy the stuff even more but my opinion on alot of the reaction remains the same, it just wasn't that well done.

Wait a minute....
"See Bond as it was meant to be seen.....on the small screen!"
No. There is no excuse here. The editors congratulated themselves while looking at their work on their Avids with 20" monitors, and never considered the fact that QOS may play in a THEATRE.
It is true that many of the recent Bond films play better the second time you see them, but usually that's because your expectations have been re-adjusted.
Examples for me(IMO) -
1)The middle section of DAD is quite good.
2)If there is a problem with AVTAK, it's not Roger. He's very good, in fact I appreciated the "Bond cooks Chiche" sequence.
3)The problem with TWINE is that it sould be presented in reverse. it should have ENDED with a cool boat chase. instead of a last 20:00 that you can't remember!
But with QOS, I didn't look FORWARD to seeing it again. And, yes, a smaller screen makes the first few action scenes better, but I don't want that to be the case! The film concentrates on the wrong things all the time! The film seems to lack a personality. And Mister E's comment seems right on to me - The film is not well done. Perhaps it was my imagination, but when I saw TND years ago (yes, I do think it's Pierce's best Bond)the audience applauded after every action sequence. But in QOS, no one seems to react at all to them.
And when the gun barrel finally shows up at the end of QOS, the applause seemed not to be about what the audience has just seen, but rather a group relief that something appeared on screen that told them that Bond films will still be around.
Paul

Lines I wish were in QOS....

M - "Welcome back. I must admit, this "rogue agent" cover was becoming quite tiresome."
James Bond - "Yes. Now tell me about this Dominic Greene."

James Bond (to Mathis) - They're gone. I hope they swallowed the bait.
Mathis - Good. I was wondering if you were planning to leave me with the trash!
James Bond - You know me better than that, Rene! You may be handy on future missions!"

I do remember a wet T shirt clad Denise Richards and her assets on view, I mean acting talent. And yes, Xmas coming in Turkey.

First, I should clarify that I loathe action sequences where you can't follow the sequence. That being said, as a student of armed and unarmed close quarter combat, I found the first fight occurring at just about the maximum speed that I could follow and know that my friend, who is also a martial arts student, and my wife both did not see what happened to end the fight. That is, I think it was edited with too many rapid cuts, as if the

On the one hand, it played out as fast as actually being in the fight on screen; but on the other, if we were in the fight, adrenalin would have sharpened our focus, so the shaky camera thing is, in my opinion both sloppy and unrealistic.

Hopefully, nothing I've said qualifies as a spoiler. My apologies if it does. I tried to be non-specific of the on-screen events to the extent possible while describing my perception of what is wrong with them.

You've had how many films of this cliched crap but you still want more!

I seriously hope anyone in EON is listening to this drivel and taking it seriously.

Once again you need cliches to remind you you've watched a Bond film, I feel sorry for that.

I would never aplaud at a Brosnan film never and I saw tham all on the big screen!

Both times I watched QOS, I watched them from a seat near the top of a stadium-seating theatre in a megaplex; both times, I managed to get the full image from the enormous screen, which probably won't be as impressive or visible upon home viewing... :(

100% agreed, I could have written this myself since we went through the same 3 stages :( I get the feeling this film will also work very well on DVD. Some do, some just don't.

I agree with you, YOLT. In the premiƩre, a friend of mine sat at the back of the theather, and another friend and I sat together close to the screen... that was a mistake. So, the next three times I've saw the film I went at the back and I started liking it a little more.

You're right, Paul.

If there is a problem with AVTAK, it's not Roger.

The same happens with Die Another Day. Pierce's not the problem.

And when the gun barrel finally shows up at the end of QOS, the applause seemed not to be about what the audience has just seen, but rather a group relief that something appeared on screen that told them that Bond films will still be around.
Paul

In Argentina, there wasn't ANY applause to Quantum of Solace (as far as I can remember). Though, for Casino Royale, I recall some people (besides me and my friends) applauding. I accept the gunbarrel at the end (now I do it), but it's done too fast and not so enjoyable.

Let me get it. You didn't like Bond getting rouge and Mathis dying?

I would never aplaud at a Brosnan film never and I saw tham all on the big screen!

It's funny. I'd aplaud Pierce even if he is playing the guitar in a shanty town asking for tips.
