David Arnold!

Yup. He's done a fine job on this and Casino particularly considering he was hamstrung by not having the title song to play with (cheers Amy!). His Quantum Night at the Opera theme sets up the new organisation. And he's shown himself to be a very safe pair of hands. The last thing we want with Bond 23 is some 'bold' new choice who lacks the finesse. For all the moaning about the editing if there's any one thing that makes a Bond movie feel un-Bondian it's a random score - can anyone actually watch the end credits of GoldenEye with that awful sub-Sting dirge?

Firstly, I am very happy with David Arnold, though you can hardly hear his music over the SFX (he has complained about this over the years)
I think Michael Giacchino would be wonderful BECAUSE of what he did with The Incredibles!. What's wrong with that??
Also Edward Sheamer seems to get it (Yes, I loved "Sky Captain")

For those who don't like Michael Giacchino, and don't think he can do a Bond sounding score, listen to this. Sound awfully like something John Barry would have written for one of the Connery films doesn't it? But, it's not, it's from The Incredibles, and sounds more like Bond than anything David Arnold has done (aside from the way too few times he's used the actual Bond theme).

And ? What's your point ? He isn't that much better then Arnold and his work on THE INCREDIBLES wasn't that bad but is wasn't that great either.

We have slightly moved on from "Bond sounding scores" have we not?

David Arnold!

I'll second that. I thoroughly enjoyed his score for Quantum of Solace and, honestly, I wouldn't like to see him replaced. The composer for Bond 23? That should be David Arnold, as far as I'm concerned.

I think David Arnold good on doing the scores on the Bond movies. His strongest and best ones are from TND: White Knight, Company Car, Backseat Driver, Helicopter Ride and Bike Chase. But I like that whole soundtrack, the only that was wrong for the soundtrack is K.D. Lang, she is someone who is wrong for any James Bond soundtrack. Another that is good from David Arnold, on DAD: Some Kind Of Hero when it gets to 3:09 to 3:28, that part is the good part. I don't mind that he does another one as long as the scores are as good as those.

But if he needs to take brake, and be like John Barry who worked on other movie scores, then he should. So that will give time to think and do a good one for Bond 24 that is as good as those. Composers that should come in if Arnold do take time off from doing a Bond score, are maybe the return of Eric Serra since Goldeneye, the scores from the movie, that are his strongest and best ones are The Goldeneye Overture, We Share The Same Passions, Run, Shoot, and Jump, Dish Out Of Water and The Experience Of Love. If He can do a score that are as good as those then he sould good righ ahead and Bond 23's score. If they want to try someone new, then try John Williams, Joe Cocker, Marc Streitenfeld, Brian Tyler, Harry Gregson-William, Kronos Quartet, and Marc Shaiman.

It would be great to hear what John Williams could come up with for Bond. Other than him, I think Arnold is still the right guy for the job.

David Arnold did some good work on Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace. But Die Another Day was awful. I don't think he did any great work apart from the Bond series either. Never seen or heard Hot Fuzz (I know I should as a Dalton fan), but besides that he composed the soundtrack for 2 Fast 2 furious, Grindhouse, Independence Day and Godzilla, not exactly masterpieces.

I still want David Arnold to be the regular 007 composer, but I wouldn't mind a new sound sort of like what happened in the '70s.

John Williams would be my number one choice as a new composer. I'd love to hear what he would come up with for Bond too. I'm not so sure about who would be my second options however.
