Quantum of Solace opened in Germany last night and I already wrote up a big review in German, so for any of you who is able to understand German, here's the link:
http://www.the007gen...quantum-anders/

In short:

Not as good as Casino Royale but still better than any of the Brozzy films. Could have been a tad longer. Although it is a great action flick, it only feels a little bit like "Bond". I think the action is the problem: too much of it in a too short time plus those shakey hand cameras. A user in our German Bond forums made a good point: Excellent work as far as the drama is concerned (Forster), but poor work as far as the action is conecerned (Bradley). Awful opening titles which makes the song only worse. Still, it has some absolutely amazing scenes (Mathis dead) and great dialogues (Bond and Fields).

Nice locations, Forsters handwriting (I loved the details, such as the Bolivian kids or the Bregenz audience), M removing her make up :(, unorthodox dead of the villain (well, is he really dead?), a lot of lose ends which allows the story of Bond 23 to follow on, although I hope for a 'formular film'. Bad gunbarrel. Poor work, MK-12, bring back Danny Kleinman. Great Craig, great Dench, great Giannini, great Wright (although underused). Bond drinks beer and seven Martinis. Nice homages to The Spy Who Loved Me (Bond in a suit in the desert, the guy falling off the house in Bregenz) and Goldfinger, although the Goldfinger reference was unnecessary.

Still - I liked it. 7 out of 10.

I commented on another review a few mins ago, and now having read yours too, Tim, I get the same impression. Could have been (should have been) a bit longer. I think that's the common denominator in most of the reviews I 've read so far.

I was wondering if someone can sum up all the reviews and work out the averages and the most common comments...

Thanks Tim007, that was a nice succinct read. Agree with most of your points. Although I found at least 3 action scenes pretty good (Opera standoff, Chase in Siena, Dogfight) but the Boat chase for instance I found middling. Was there any of the action scenes that you thought were good ?

That's a good sober review. Good job.

Though I found the film exhilarating.
