Saw it last night - I liked it.

The opening scene was good. The end was a bit odd. I mean Mr. White in the back was cool, and "Time to get out now" but then the end shot froze and then the cutting to titles was a bit odd. The music sounded out of place, yet the titles looked great.

The chases near the beginning were good but too fast. They should've had more long shots of the action, as you could barely see what was going on. The ending was great, but the fight in the hotel, albeit great, seemed just a bit easy. I mean he let him go and he died in the end, I liked that idea. But the fight wasn't really spectacular.

Favourite scenes? The bits with M and Bond were great! Loved the lift part, and the Tosca scenes were great. The idea of cutting between Bond and the opera was good, but I felt it was a bit annoying. You had the great scenes with Bond and the earphones and then saying "You need to find a better place to meet" but then the fighty bit is sort of ruined by cutting between the opera and it. I'd have preferred just to have had Bond fighting them.

The ending was great, I think that was a great scene, good parallel to the opening of CR. But I think they could have done without the whole film, and had this final scene with the flat and the snow, as a flashback near the beginning or something.

I think it's all very well looking stylish with the different fonts etc. but the film was quite short, and it was very quick. After two years waiting for the film, I'd rather they had a great new story with Bond and Q and Moneypenny back, a proper Bond film, gunbarrel at the beginning etc. This is just a conclusion to Casino Royale.

But overall, it was satisfying, and I'd really like to see it again. With a few more Bond elements, and more time taken between chases, this could've gained a higher mark. 8/10

EDIT: Oh, and the humour. Great. There was some great stuff in there, I liked the bike bits, and in the hotel, where he crept along the wall. And the music - fantastic! Didn't think there'd be much of the Bond theme in there, but there is! Great!!!

Yes I agree. And the way they had a glazed door that disintegrated - not very realistic. Why not have Bond STRUGGLE? That would be more tense.

Definitely more long shots. I wanted to see how good the cars looked. I wanted to see the scenery!

I think the mountain car chase (and Siena foot chase) did what IMO they were supposed to - transmit the feeling of urgency, some confusion and excitement that you would feel in a real life or death chase. I felt the audience had to 'work' to keep up, but you were getting the same information and limited time to act on it that Bond would have.
