Why in OHMSS doesn't Blofeld recognise Bond?

In You Only Live Twice, Bond and Blofeld meet. But in the next film, Blofeld doesn't recognise him. Surely he would, I'd hardly call a pair of glasses and a kilt a plausible disguise. So I wondered whether OHMSS was written BEFORE You Only Live Twice.

Can anyone help?

well the original books are in the reverse order and YOLT is quite different from the film.......they made YOLT before OHMSS so it screwed everything up....originally there was to be an explanation for Bond, that he underwent plastic surgery to disguise himself, but that was ultimately left out, so there's no legitimate reason, but the fact that it's a new actor and the film gets largely ignored by people means that this doesn't draw a lot of attention from people...

He wasn't recognised because he brushed his hair to the left and wore a kilt.

Actually, the other day, my girlfriend said that she thought kilts were very sexy. But then she's Spanish and I'm not sure what she really knows anyway.

Apologies to all Scottish (and non-Scottish) kilt wearers.

Perhaps Blofeld was distracted by Bond's legs, revealed by the kilt. C'mon, all the way up that mountain, all those women, he doesn't touch them except for the most masculine looking one...love is blind.

And has no earlobes

It's the mountain air - kills off all logic.

Perhaps Blofeld's eyesight was suffering from the recent surgery to fix that nasty scar over his eye.

What is the original order of the books then?

Why wasn't Casino Royale an official film then? Sorry if I'm straying away from the George Lazenby topic.. and I thought A View To A Kill was a Fleming book, was the film based on an idea of his rather than a book? or is it completely nothing to do with him?

The rights to Casino Royale were bought by another producer before Eon could get them.

For Your Eyes Only is actually a collection of five short stories - From A View To A Kill, For Your Eyes Only, Quantum of Solace, The Hildebrand Rarity, and Risico. This is where the title A View To A Kill comes from, though its plot has nothing to do with the plot of the story besides the French location.

So is For Your Eyes Only based on all five stories in that book, or just the For Your Eyes Only short story. Are there any other films where the film doesn't follow the book?

And going back to the books, does Bond have plastic surgery AFTER Diamonds Are Forever? As in that he meets Blofeld, but presumably Blofeld doesn't recognise him in OHMSS (the book)

FYEO, the film, is based on portions of FYEO and Risico.

LTK, the film, borrows a character name and fish association from Hildebrand Rarity.

Bond never has plastic surgery in the books apart from some back of hand related stuff to remove a SMERSH knife mark.

Blofeld doesn't feature in DAF the book.

And Thunderball - remember all that Thunderball/NSNA fiasco from which this emanated.
