On the countdown to Quantum of Solace, this weekend it was Die Another Day.

As long as you ignore anything Jinx says and the ice dragster/cgi sail-surf scene it isn't a bad movie.

I watched Casino Royale again a couple weeks ago. I just wished it followed the novel more. Tell me, what's the point of the story? That Bond loses the love of his life!

No, that's not what Fleming wrote. Bond realizes how bad the bad guys really are. That was totally left out of the movie.
Good movie, but not exactly what Fleming wrote.

I don't know if you've seen QOS yet but it sounds like a film you will like. Please post your thoughts on it.

Well I just saw Quantum of Solace today. And I.................BLOODY LOVE it!

Yes it's NOT Casino Royale, BUT is a very good Bond movie, IMO. Loved the Mathis scenes and the end scene also. Cinematography was quite great to watch too.

Here here.. I agree that statement Double-0-7.. You also have to ignore Purvis and Wade's corny dialogue througout most of the movie, and basically the whole third act and then you do have a pretty decent Bond flick.

I watched Licence To Kill then Die Another Day last night.

Tonight, I'll be doing OHMSS and The Spy Who Loved Me. Hope to get to Casino Royale in the next couple of days before Quantum of Solace! :) :(

MOONRAKER, about ten minutes ago. Hadn't seen it in years, so I gave it a spin as I gear up for QoS this Friday. As always, I found it to be lavish and well-made, with some spectacular set pieces linked together by a fair number of groan-inducing jokes. The egregious use of space movie music cues, the double takes during the ridiculous gondola sequence, the MAGNIFICENT SEVEN sequence, and Jaws' love affair were all just as clumsy as I remembered them, and each new viewing of the movie reminds me of just how much of a carbon copy of TSWLM it is. That said, the visuals are stunning, Moore has a great deal of fun, Drax remains one of my favorite Bond villains of all time (both the literary and cinematic versions), and some of the scenes (the PTS, the pheasant hunt and subsequent killing of Corinne, the glass museum fight, the boat chase, the python fight, and the explosive space battle finale) are truly unforgettable. Dumb, to be sure, but fun nonetheless.

Up next for me is TOMORROW NEVER DIES, my personal favorite of the Brosnan Bonds.

I also watched Moonraker a couple of days ago, and its colossal fun, with many, as you say, truly unforgettable scenes. The pacing of the film is also superb, there's always something going on, and the dialogue sparkles. Truly a classic Bond film!

Casino Royale. It's lost none of the luster it had two years ago. Now I'm ready for QoS.
