They could call the new series of books "War Bond" instead of "Young Bond"...

But seriously, I'd love even a single book focusing on Bond's time during WWII.

I like that idea.

The seven missions will take the intrepid player through adventures in the world of Young Bond: from discovering who escaped the fire at SilverFin’s Hellebore Castle to tracking a ship down in the Royal Docks, uncovering a secret code in a bookshop where a gruesome murder has taken place and revealing the mysterious passenger of an airship crossing the Alps.

I especially like the sound of that last one. Could this mean we'll see an airship in By Royal Command, or is this adventure original to the game?

Too much of a coincidence not to be related to By Royal Command, in my opinion.

Spoiler

When I first saw this I thought IFP had really gone off their rockers. James Bond teaming up with the Vorlons, Mimbari, and Narn to take on the ancient Shadows...

Hopefully someone will get that.

Sharpen your skills...get ready for War. It sounds like a good video game tagline. It'd be cool if they brought the un-used Shadow War title out for whatever this is.

Yes, I was correct. I'm looking forward to participating in this game!

You certainly did nail it. :(

BTW, so people know, not long after sharpshooter posted this he actually discovered the Shadow War holding page (how the heck did you find that?), but he was good enough to keep it quiet and help us preserve the secret. Thank you, sharp!

I will be announcing each new mission on my site and also providing clues for player who get stuck (if Puffin feels it's necessary).

New Young Bond newsletter just out:

This is it. This is where it starts. You want to be involved? Well here's the deal.

Europe is on the brink of being set aflame as the Great Powers - Britain and the Soviet Union - challenge each other for supremacy in the hidden world of spies.

Who will you join in The Shadow War? Will it be the Soviet Secret Police, or the British Secret Intelligence Service?

The Shadow War has begun - which side will you choose? Start now.

Me too. But I've discovered you can look at both sides. There's a log out down in the copyright footer. Log out, log back in, and click the other side. You'll be welcomed in the same way.

Yes, I'm a double agent!

I'm a British spy, too! I'm tempted to also set up another account to play for the enemy, as you did, zen.

Bring on the War!

First real mission launches tomorrow. At the moment, all you can do is choose a side. But so far it looks good.

Weird. I'm not getting the emails?

I was working the game, but then it slowed down on me. I logged out to see if I could kick it back into gear, but now it doesn't load at all. Maybe it's getting a flood of traffic.

Finished Mission One. Kinda fun. I'm normally terrible puzzle games, but I managed to get through.

I went through it twice as both sides. Found the OGPU pages load much faster. I think the majority are playing as SIS.

And you don't need to re register to play both sides. Just log in as normal, but enter the other side.

Very fun so far!

But the system seems to be so slow, I think I've got everything for the pass but it's taking forever to work through and then it times out!

Can I check with someone who's passed the pass what they've put?

Gah, website being freaky. I definitely know I've got the right things, I've checked and rechecked all the clues but it just refreshes the page on the ID and leaves the name there but deletes everything else.

Refresh a few times or empty your cache. You should be seeing the new pages.
