Why did they cast white actors for Persian characters (at least I assume they're supposed to be Persian)?
Because Jerry Bruckheimer is an idiot? The guy uses tired old racial stereotypes in all his movies. It might be a train wreck in the making if we're at war with "Persia" by the time it comes out!

It's true, but there are rumors that filmmaker P. T. Anderson (MAGNOLIA, THERE WILL BE BLOOD) is interested in helming METAL GEAR SOLID. That's my one source of hope for whole "video game adaptation" thing.I never have faith in Video Game films. None of them have ever been good.

Small article in Variety about the casting of Prince of Persia; it's really an article about Alfred Molina joining the cast, but they mentioned Arterton has been cast as the female lead. Could be an interesting flick. It's based upon the extremely popular videogame of the same name.
So now they're casting "ethnic" looking actors like Molina and Kingsley as Persians, to support a Jewish white guy playing the Prince of Persia?

Count me in too. I can honestly enjoy it as a sci-fi/action movie geared toward younger folks, it just had the misfortune of being marketed as a Super Mario adaptation.
Man, three of us. Let's start a club!
