I am having trouble viewing the total post count of any poster on any forum page. Did CBn update itself as it did last year or what? The dossier shows the total post count, but not next to the poster's message. I just see the group and the enlistment date (and sometimes the location)
What happened?

Thanks.

Anyone see under the person's user name the following things:
Box A
[Group Name] (ex: Leutenant)
Group: (ex: Crew)
Enlisted: (ex: 3 July 2007)
Location: (ex: United States)

-or does it say:
Box B
[Group Name] (ex: Leutenant)
Group: (ex: Crew)
Posts: (ex: 1000)
Agent number (ex: 0011047)
Enlisted (ex: 3 July 2007)

My screen shows the format of Box A currently, but my previous communiques show in the format of Box B.
Is this supposed to be?

If it's been dropped, perhaps that's a good thing. I've been wondering lately if some folks haven't been Posting just to drive up their numbers (same w/ certain Threads, for that matter).

Some things on the forum are being rearranged at the moment. You can still find your post count in your member dossier for the time being.

Though I must say, not seeing a post count isn't that bad IMO. I think Dell said it best.

Ah well.

If you click on the member's name, you'll see this incredibly vital information there.

Still not sure I understand all the fuss about post count.

Newbies can still be recognized by their 'Enlisted' date...

And a rough idea of post-count can be gleaned from their Rank...

The Team had been talking about this for some time and decided to "streamline" the boards in some areas. Besides, this has never been about post count. It's been about quality of posts/news and sharing info on 007 and it's world.

You know, a FORUM.

It's not a video game.

If you ever thought that raising your post count is going to land you a spot on the Team, you're sadly mistaken.

Dell - Nice post and well put.

If any members really have an issue, state it here or PM any member of the Team.

Who will take care of the Lounge while we're all trying to regain our Commander ranks? Can you imagine the dust that would accrue if left unattended that long?

You're also sadly mistaken if you think a high post count makes you "cool" and/or increases your chances of scoring with a lady.

Of course there will be some (nameless) types that have blandly climbed their way through to high post count numbers who may be disappointed to see such meddling with their forum 'seniority'.

I of course couldn't care less - I am perhaps perversely proud of the number of years association and contrastingly average contribution of something like one-a-day. I am getting ready for old age with that last statement...

I sometimes wonder if a voting system could be in place whereby the quality of a person's contributions are noted as opposed to the numbers. A little radio button to the side of each post where readers could ignore, rate highly or rate lowly a person's efforts, the results of which could be graphically displayed.

Of course, this would mean that Jim would be thumping his way to the top and the fight would be on for places two and down.

I think the quality of posting, contributing, spelling, grammar and verbiage is comparatively very high here for a forum so perhaps it is not needed, or even wanted.

Just a thought.

That would be a very cool idea, Simon.

A "Rate this Agent" star thingy where you can vote 1 to 5 would be one way to do it, with the user's average displayed.

Yes, a thingy. I'd be for it.

Hmm, I have zero in mine. Clearly I don't post very often and what I do post is of a lowly quality...

But what I meant was more of a floating scale which is almost organically fluctuating on a day-to-day basis, not a scale where your best friends make the effort to go into profiles and slap a star on your forehead, 'cos they like ya.

I too, was going to post to up my post count (great idea doublenoughtspy  ), but have even a better plan in mind. I've fine tuned the Post Attenuator in my pc, and now will be deducting one post from my post count each time I post. Once I reach zero, it's on to 00!!

On a related matter, two other Forums in which I participate recently got into a  match, w/ one seeking to lure away Participants from the other.

The incentive? "We'll transfer your Post count history over to your messages here!" The administrator has been dutifully updating requests and Posting confirmations one-by-one (I kid you not!).

For what it's worth, the whole thing has caused me to re-think the value of that site. And I now Post and visit there less.
