SHAKEN, NOT THIRD
OPS2 mixed a vodka martini with David Luoto, and asked him about the decision to incorporate the new third-person perspective during key sections of the game.
"The rationale behind it was that in some situations you want to increase the drama by forcing the players view of certain things. For instance, Bond might be moving past a window and you want him to be able to see the position of the guards behind the window so that he can time his movement correctly. If you do that in first-person, you don't know where the camera's looking at any given moment." So now you'll have a better view to a kill.

It adds to the suspense so much more.
About third person features, do you mean like strafe and sneak?

" before saying too much, I mean it could be cool, but I can't really see why it's neccesary.

I am really confident that Nightfire will be better than AUF - and will therefore be ver close to GE if not on a parr!

Ah, C&C, the best games ever:DOriginally posted by Dave
Not sure if any of you guys have played Command & Conquer Renegade - but in this game, you can switch between 1st and 3rd person views - very handy.

This thirdperson business is not on the whole game you guys! Its just during certain scenario's for looking round the odd corner. The developers know that firstperson has proved to be better - its just adding a twist to improve the drama and the look of the game.
After the article I realised it wasn't the whole game, still doesn't sound that good IMO.
Plus they had to bring in a way to show pierce's face more often than just the cut scenes.
Yeah, that's probably why they are doing it, and it's the dumbest thing I've ever heard, "Let's add a thrid person perspective so we can show Pierce". Still, it should be a good game regardless, and I guess that's the main thing.

That way, you're not just tagging along behind Bond, you are Bond. Although it would be nice if you could choose between the two views.
And how could I forget: Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast!
As Freemo said, the game will be good regardless - hopefully 500% better than AUF.

I think that it could be a way to include Pierces face more often, so then it would please more Bond fans. BTW Freemo, I love your new sig:p
