I know when we wrote SilverKnight, we wrote it with 'Karma Killer' in mind as the themetune.

But, what did other people write their fanfictions with in mind as a 'themetune'?

Given the recent DMC competition, might it be an idea to do something similar for one of the 'classic' Bond fanfics here, such as Mightier Than The Sword?

Funnily enough, this thought crossed my mind while I was listening to the DMC themes in competition!
However, I'm not really at ease with the idea of coupling music and text. I can't see how to make a single theme song fit with a printed book. However, making a complete soundtrack for a book would be an interesting challenge, but then, it would become an audiobook, with the performance of the reader(s) etc., and not a text anymore.

Well, if the suggestion would be to take one of the fanfic novels and compose a soundtrack for it - why stop there, not take one of them and turn it into an audio-drama?

I think a themetune for one or two of the older novels, a la MTTS, might be fun.

It's not a bad thought, but I feel, as an author, that I've already designed my own soundtrack from various CD's and sampled music (Bond and Non-Bond) that I listened to when I was writing and again now that I'm FINALLY wrapping things up.

Although, based on whatever the work, the notion of someone not attached and offering an objective take on one's work is fun and could always produce a masterpiece.

If anyone around here wants to take a crack at creating a "John Bryce Theme", PM me. I'd love it.

I'd love it if one of the musically gifted here would step up and create such a thing. It would go nicely with the 009 theme that was written for Joyce (a favourite of mine seeing heavy rotation on my iPod).

The audio recording is a really splendid idea, and something I'd love to do, but we have to treat fan fiction as a bit of a scorching spud and this may fall foul of all sorts of horriblenesses. Still, if anyone wants to write a theme tune to any of the fan fiction, that's a nice idea too.

A few years ago, I wrote a piece of fan fiction called BONDKILLER. It never had a themetune, but I did have a few lyrics:

He surveys the scene with a gunmetal grimace
Actors reacting to pitiful cues
None of them muster the measure of menace
Needed, he feels, to slip into his shoes

He takes out the rifle, sinking like Venice
Into dark waters of angst and ennuie
Then wipes the sight with a rare rush of relish
Sweeps to the target and readies to squeeze

Yes, he's Bond...killer!
Bond after Bond for he yearns to be free
Of the Bond flotilla
Chasing his sails in a celluloid sea
He's Bondkiller!
Bondkiller!
Bond after Bond 'til there's nothing to see...

As soon as I can write a story that's actually good enough, someone feel free to write a theme song.
