Now on the CBn main page...

Would be set between 'Hurricane Gold' and 'Young Bond 5'

As said before I'm weak for short storys (I don't know why) and I hope Higson will give us a contribution. Thought Weinberg's Moneypenny short storys was a nice treat as well.

This would be cool, but I just don't see it happening. Besides, the YB books are so tight in their timeline there's hardly any room for additional adventures.

Well maybe youre right about the tight timeline but, as I wrote in another thread, if they chose to continue the books about YB, lets say with a timeline with Bond in the age of fourteen to... say sixteen or seventeen, they could cover this era with a collection of short storys similar to the Sherlock Holmes collections. Hopefully with Higson behind the wheel.

Not a bad idea, Mr. Twilight. I'd certainly get behind that.

Maybe Higgy could then do his aborted Young Bond skiing idea.

I guess he must have a few drafts left that could make good episodes. Would surprise me if he isn't.

Maybe Higgy could then do his aborted Young Bond skiing idea.

That would be an interesting read.:cooltongue:

Higson may never write a short story collection of Young Bond, but what is stopping us?

I may write an effort if I have any spare time. I have some scribble to do with Alps, learning to ski and some other things...

Excellent news Zencat.

Of course I am interested at the mention of Wilder Lawless returning, one thing Higson always seems to do really well is the female characters and Wilder Lawless is one of my favorite of his characters.

Maybe, with the Benson short stories, the Higson short stories and the Weinberg short stories, there'll be enough to put together a book volume?

Excellent scoop, zencat.

Here's hoping this happens - a cruise ship sounds like a perfect scenario for a short story to occur!

This is totally excellent! I really want this idea to happen.

The cruise ship concept is brilliant and exiting. Keep Young Bond rolling, people love it. :D

I've been hoping this would happen for years.

Stealing my idea. :D I actually wrote this on my blog too earlier today, but I left out Benson because it doesn't fit the idea I have. I think it would be cool to collect short stories from Young Bond, The Moneypenny Diaries (with emphasis on Bond, of course), a Fleming one, and maybe beg Faulks to write a current adult one and then make a collection out of it for the Centenary. Moments in Bond's life or something to that effect. Good advertising vehicle for all these series.

Not a bad idea. I wonder if this idea of Higson got off the ground, how long the story would be, begging the question of how it would be presented.

Even if it was just a collection of the Moneypenny, possible Higson one, and/or Benson ones, it seems like release around the centenary would be a somewhat likely time. Unless IFP just want the focus solely on Fleming...

I do anticipate we'll get this for the centenary celebrations in May. Given we've got to wait until September for the next Young Bond novel, I can't see IFP letter the centenary month slip by without some new material from its current flagship series.

(That said, we do have the graphic novel of SilverFin, so who knows?)

And we're now getting the paperback Hurricane Gold in May.

True.

I'm curious as to how a Young Bond story would be published; obviously Playboy's out of the question.

I can picture one of the newspaper's running it (or even a week-long serial of a short story). The Guardian, perhaps? Charlie's written some articles for them, plus they distributed the Young Bond Rough Guide To London.

I'm really rooting for this to happen. I'd love a YB short story...illustrated by Kev Walker maybe?

I've got a funny feeling it'll happen - and it'll happen to coincide with the Fleming centenary.

That would be a great happening if they could make it to the centenary. What also would have been great is a cameo of Fleming himself - in some way. There have been some appearence by forthcoming roles created by Fleming but never by he himself.

Check this out. Might this be where the Young Bond short story appears? Probably not (too short and a different publisher), but you never know...

Charlie Higson will contribute short story to 'Wow! 366'

At only 366 words, I hope not. I'd like a more fleshed out story than that.

Wow 366 has been released. Charlie story is not a Young Bond short, but it sounds fun. It's called Freddie and the pig, about a boy who sends a pig to school in his place so he can stay at home and play X-box. LINK.

Shame it's not Young Bond, but still worth checking out nonetheless for some fun I guess. Thanks zen.
